Defrag Programs

I've lost the link in the control panel for the defrag program windows has by default. Anyone know of any defrag programs?

Use Diskeeper. The built in windows degragmenter is shit compared to it. The home version is 30 bucks after you get finished with the trial. I paid 50 and got the professional version, but the home one will more than do the trick.

I second that! The new version (2007) runs wonderfully well on Vista.

Diskeeper will work perfect(defrag with windows defragmenter and then use diskeeper defrag). You will definitely notice a change in speed.

I use only Diskeeper. Schedule it, you dont need to use the unbuilt or any other defragger. It does a very thorough defrag.

I like the permanent defragmentation mode in diskeeper 2007 (defragments as soon as the cpu is not in use, and can be resumed really fast, so u don't need to schedule defrags). Btw, I learned recently that XP's defragmentation engine was a stripped down version of an early diskeeper version. But yeah, it doesn't perform as well.

Yes, the XP defragger worked ok, but it lacked the background defrag option which is what i like most abt the 2007 version. It preempts fragmentation without sucking the CPU.
