Ran hijack this again in safe mode, no issue Ran ad aware in safe mode, no issues (this is after I ran the above numbers in regualr mode. Still had one nasty that refused to be removed. Had a blue question mark with flashing red circle over it. I don't rember what page it opend. I googled it, found the free tool and got rid of it. Computer owned by 19 year old female (friend of my kid) Her 22 year old boyfriend. While I said nothing to them I just thought to myself, how many porn sites did you hit?? Oh yea can we guess what antivirus program they used?? All together class....NORTONS!! So gave a brief rundown, loaded avg and comondo firewall, got rid of nortons and Told them yes Update your windows!!
dlewis23 Posted May 14, 2007 CID Share Posted May 14, 2007 That really isnt that much. Ive worked on some computers that ive built for people that they had for less then a week and they had over 10,000 pieces of spyware/adware. That is the most ive seen. But yea porn will do it. If they were smart they would buy a mac or get a cheap linux computer so they could look at all the porn they want and never have a problem. Swimmer Posted May 14, 2007 CID Share Posted May 14, 2007 Tha was a nasty computer for sure... I worked on a computer that had over 200 viruses, mostly trojans. The computer was to the point, even after removing most of it, that stuff no longer was working, like the start menu. The most spyware that I have ever seen was right aroung 10000 from a kid who was a porn addict.

I was shocked xp was even running and able to get on the net with just what I found. Wow!!

Nope, that one was the wrost ive ever seen. You turn on the computer and walk away fro 5 minutes and when you came back the whole screen would be covered in pop up's. I just ended up formatting the computer because that is the only real way to get rid of it all.

ninjageek Posted May 17, 2007 Author CID Share Posted May 17, 2007 Ya know. I may someday soon replace one of my older harddrives. I think it may be fun just to see how many nasties I can get on it. Get them removed and still be able to run xp. No firewall, no updates. Just download all the garbage I can. Give it a few days, Give myself just one day to see what I can do. Laugh, then format it and pitch it. If and when I do I will give you all a shout. Should be fun.

Shug7272 Posted May 19, 2007 CID Share Posted May 19, 2007 Well ninja aside form depressing peepn for some unknown reason, you seem to have found out in fact no, nobody can beat that. Although one time I got 940 hits with adaware on a PC at work. Lots of porn there..
ninjageek Posted May 19, 2007 Author CID Share Posted May 19, 2007 It forsure taught me something. It just shocks me how xp and probally vista can run with so many issues. Im not so sure if thats a good thing or not. No idea if the average user is just lazy, or feel like they are not smart enough or what the deal is with so many issues. Guess they figure they will just use the computer and take it to the shop when it breaks down. Or maybe all the work and experience I have and being a geek it just looks easier that what it really is. Its a paridox.
Shug7272 Posted May 20, 2007 CID Share Posted May 20, 2007 You are right, I have to give it to MS, XP will run with a SHIT load of problems. I know.. I create them on a daily basis and she keeps chugging.
