pitbull481 Posted February 11, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 11, 2005 i called Comcast 3 days ago and ask them about the free upgrade. they say people who got 3000/256 are going to get free upgrade to 4000/384. and people with 4000/384 are going to 6000/768. we should be getting an email when it is done in our area
Swimmer Posted February 11, 2005 CID Share Posted February 11, 2005 It will take about 1-3 weeks after the system is running the 4000/384 spec.. then the network engineers will update your modem.. if you want it quicker try power cycling your modem.. The last time the update that is what you had to do to get the new modem packets..
cableuser07 Posted February 11, 2005 CID Share Posted February 11, 2005 On the Comcast tech forums, they provided a list of cities and dates of when they are getting upgrades. I live in NJ and I got my connection upgraded from 3000/250 to 4000/354.. Sometimes it surpasses 4000 to around 4100 and upload never seems to reach 384..... pitbull481 Posted February 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 13, 2005 netmasta thanx i went to Comcast help forum and here is what i read: Jason1 Re: Chicago area radio advertisement Feb 8, 2005 5:07 PM Registered: 2/17/04 Chicago customers, At this time we do not have a concrete date for when your area will receive the speed upgrades. As mentioned above, it will be completed by March 31 (latest date) but will likely be upgraded before this time. We will keep you updated when the next round of upgrades will be going out. As for the radio advertisement in your areas, I can't say much on this since most of these advertisements are approved and only run in local markets. There is a chance this ad was premature to your area getting the speed upgrades but your area should be coming up very soon. As for when it does become available, Comcast will be sending emails within a few days after your market has successfully completed the update so stay tuned to your Comcast email accounts for this info or keep monitoring the Upgrade sticky thread at the top of this forum for updates on your area. pitbull481 Posted February 26, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 26, 2005 if you live in chicagoland area, your downloads and upload should have been raise as of 2/25/05. just unplug power from cable modem for about 1 minute or 2 and plug back in than try speed test and see results
