monsnet2k8 Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 Hello! I need to buy a new land/house telephone preferably a DECT 6.0 phone. Does anyone on here currently have one? If you do please share some info on the pros and cons and why you still have it or not. Features are not that important. What I care mostly is about battery life and how long a full charge will give me of talk time and also while being on stand by away from the charger/base. I need a set of two. with or without answering machine. Thanks in advance.
mudmanc4 Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 I'm a Uniden fan. I own the powermax 5.8 Ghz , TRU8865-2 the sound quality in lifelike. I can't say just how long the phone lasts w/o being on the base, I'm sure it depends on the talk time. But i have left mine off for a couple days at least, and never ran it dry. Same here, Every phone I've owned for the past 9 years has been a Uniden. I recently retired my old 7hr talk time 900Mhz phone and revived with new batteries my old 5.8 Ghz phone that after a few months the batteries will last 2 minutes after a full charge (over night) I been looking for a similar phone that will last at least a few hours of talk time, but since all newer phones have so many bells and whistles they consume energy very fast. I'm looking in to the new Uniden Dect6 phones, I hear that they are great. But I'm mostly concerned about battery life as mentioned on OP. Thanks for the info mudmanc4. I will check that phone out... coknuck Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 I've only replaced 3 batteries in 13 o 14 years. If they want to test battery talk time they should send test phone to my wife.

Nice joke about the wife, But they can also send them to me, as I can be on the phone for hours upon hours. lol' I wish I could find my old Uniden, in 9 years I replaced the batteries twice. tommie gorman Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 So what happened to the old one?
monsnet2k8 Posted October 21, 2008 Author CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 So what happened to the old one? The keys wore out, couldn't dial anymore.. It finally broke after countless drops when taken outside on the driveway. I found it on e-bay. but I have no experience with e-bay and don't trust it much from the negative comments I read around... My latest one goes through batteries too quick.
tommie gorman Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 So try craigs list then if it is in your area. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/ I love it since I quit using ebay. To me it now sucked in comparison.
Sequoia Posted October 21, 2008 CID Share Posted October 21, 2008 I still have this Panasonic model KX-TC1430W.I has very clear sound & I'm not sure how long it will go without charge. If it's not in use I usually put it back on the base. http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Phones-Fax/Telephones/900-MHz-Phones/model.KX-TC1430W I also have a pair of Vtech 5.8GHz but they're not as clear as the older Panasonic. Then I have a hardwired phone that looks like one of the crank phones but Is really a new push button touch tone. Always nice to have one that will work if the electricity goes out. I had a Sony one time with an extra battery in the base. The base charged this battery so you could just switch batteries if the handset one got low.The base battery also supplied the base wity electricty if the house electricity went out. monsnet2k8 Posted October 26, 2008 Author CID Share Posted October 26, 2008 Thanks to those that contributed with their comments. I made a decision and bought a VTECH DECT 6.0 phone http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8743407&type=product&id=1207351386904 Its the best phone I have ever owned. It gives me 8 hrs of talk time and there's minimal to no interference from other electronics. I can be in any part of my property and I don't have to worry about switching channels, great reception all around. There might be better phones out there, but so far this is my favorite. Can't go wrong with either brand. I'm amazed of how well this phone works. The price is just right for the functionality and the features it has..
