calista48 Posted December 20, 2008 CID Share Posted December 20, 2008 hi everything was running okay. then last night i tried to upload a somewhat small video file to my website and i noticed it was going so slow. i tested my speed and it was just 6 kb per second. i restored today because i thought maybe the kids messed with the settings. its still slow. the connection says its moving but in reality its not. this is my test (dual) from 5 minutes ago i have xp. this pc is running a bellkin wireless adapter. i have kaspersky (which is now all screwed up from the restore but i am updating it and hopefully will fix) i ran spy bot and it was clean. i dont know what else it can be. :::.. testmy.net test results ..::: Download Connection is:: 2782 Kbps about 2.78 Mbps (tested with 3072 kB) Download Speed is:: 340 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 42 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 386 kB) Upload Speed is:: 5 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Main) Test Time:: 2008/12/20 - 1:28pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-ZBEUON5TR U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-L5R1GCQBM User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) [!] any help is appreciated. cali

calista48 Posted December 20, 2008 Author CID Share Posted December 20, 2008 Have you power cycled your modem? Yes, I reset the modem and also set the router site back to default and entered everything in again. i changed my channel from 11 to 6 which seems to help by a few kb per second. my Kaspersky is still downloading the update, its only between 9 and 11 kb per second. i aslo noticed that the pc that is wireless is not sending packets. mudmanc4 Posted December 21, 2008 CID Share Posted December 21, 2008 Reset the router, with the reset button. Clear your internet files stored in IE , all of them. Get rid of kapernsky ( just for now ) Go into your network connections and right click on the connection your using, and reset the device. Chances are , you have some sort of malware, ( you mentioned kids lol ) Plus there's allot of junk going around right now, even from sites that we never have had issues with. So look a bit deeper into your system. There are advanced setting within spybot, use them, but be careful if you have sensitive data, they can delete goodies that you want if your not careful ( not sure if your familiar of not, so excuse me if so )
