Can anyone help? Try unplugging your modem for few seconds and plug it back in. This will manually make your modem request settings. This may help you get the new settings faster than waiting. Re-Test after and let me know. Also, you may want to tweak your connection. It might not be optimized -- see the post in the guides section .. >> here >> https://testmy.net/topic-1013 I'm on 5Mbps also.. check it out :::.. xs1 Posted February 21, 2005 CID Share Posted February 21, 2005 Iv heard that some people didnt get the new config file transfered to their modem by their ISP for some reason. You may have to call them and ask them to upgrade you manualy.

xs1 Posted February 21, 2005 CID Share Posted February 21, 2005 - Windows 98 - Connecting via USB ^ Thoes are your 2 biggest problems right there. Both will cut speed in half alone.
Bord Posted February 21, 2005 Author CID Share Posted February 21, 2005 I had no idea those 2 things reduced speed this much, I mean they do meet RR's requirements.
VanBuren Posted February 21, 2005 CID Share Posted February 21, 2005 there is nothing more to do, get rid of USB and use ethernet instead that will give you the speed your paying for Win 98 tcp stack is not very good, but for download speed it works pretty well up to around 5 Mbps your TCP settings seem fine VanBuren
