Not Getting the 5Mbps Increase :(

Recommended Posts

RR recently increased from 3 Mbps to 5 Mbps but I havent noticed a change. :(

:::.. Download Stats ..:::

Connection is:: 3847 Kbps about 3.8 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)

Download Speed is:: 470 KB/s

Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Test Time:: Mon Feb 21 06:32:39 CST 2005

Bottom Line:: 69X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.18 sec

Diagnosis: Looks Great : 19.07 % faster than the average for host (rr.com)

What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

Try unplugging your modem for few seconds and plug it back in.  This will manually make your modem request settings.  This may help you get the new settings faster than waiting.  Re-Test after and let me know.

Also, you may want to tweak your connection.  It might not be optimized -- see the post in the guides section ..  >> here >> https://testmy.net/topic-1013

I'm on 5Mbps also.. check it out

no real change by unplugging the modem :(

Not sure what tweaks to do, I'm new to this area and could really use your help.

hey Bord and welcome to the forum :)

follow all these steps and post again https://testmy.net/topic-2097

VanBuren :)

OK Van

1. WIndows 98se

2. RoadRunner 5 Mbps down/ 384 kbps up

3. CableNut and TCPOptimizer

http://ttester.broadbandreports.com/tweak/block:4ac14b3?service=cable&speed=5000&os=win98SE&via=normal

4.

there is nothing more to do, get rid of USB and use ethernet instead

that will give you the speed your paying for

Win 98 tcp stack is not very good, but for download speed it works pretty well up to around 5 Mbps

your TCP settings seem fine

VanBuren :)
