sparky Posted March 10, 2005 CID Share Posted March 10, 2005 Ok, now I got your attention, so you want to have a laugh? ok you will need to follow this link http://www.mydirecway.com/mydw/common/2way/dw6-upgrade.jsp There you will see something funny, and I am sure you will upgrade to the new [glow=red,2,300]DW6000[/glow], Click on the [glow=red,2,300]FAQ[/glow] for the funny stuff! Heres one thing I thought was amusing, and I am sure you can tell me if its true or not! Q: Is the DW6000 faster than the DW4000? A: No. Both the DW6000 and the DW4000 modems deliver the same DIRECWAY high-speed service experience. The DW6000 modem allows you to connect to Windows and Macintosh based operating systems, has no software to load on your computer and makes networking your DIRECWAY high-speed connection to multiple home computers easier (See 'Can I run DIRECWAY on a small network?' for more information on home networking). sst45jeff Posted March 10, 2005 CID Share Posted March 10, 2005 Interesting the fact that they absalutly dont want you to go back to the DW4000. If they are the same why would they forbid you from going back? Hardware Terms & Conditions: Once you have activated the DW6000, you will not be able to reinstall your DW4000. sparky Posted March 10, 2005 Author CID Share Posted March 10, 2005 Because they know the DW4000 are more difficult to control, they have complete control over the DW6000 units!

fikester Posted March 20, 2005 CID Share Posted March 20, 2005 Is it true that if you reach the FAP on the DW4000, a simple power cycle erases that info from the system.....puts you back up to full speeds? If that is true its no wonder Direcway is pushing the 6000 modem.

fikester Posted April 25, 2005 CID Share Posted April 25, 2005 Because they know the DW4000 are more difficult to control, they have complete control over the DW6000 units! I also have heard about a hack for the 4000 that involved software to bypass original commision process, re-pointing to a POS bird, this allowed for unlimited service.
