Did I waste my money on this memory ?

Its preety simple: Lets say ...

I have 2 sticks of 256 dual channel DDR ram @ 400 mhz with 2.5-3-3-7 CAS

And I got another stick of 256 DDR @ 400 mhz with 3-4-4-8 CAS

will they work ?

of course they will work - no reason it wouldnt work - the cas latency compatibility doesnt really matter if you dont care about running it in dual channel - you wont be running them all in dual channel but they will function no problem

I know they wont run all in dual, but my comp screams when I put it in, and the only times it booted up it only gave me 512 and sometimes 256 insteade of 768

also they arent the same brand

any advice ?

you get better performance with the extra 256??  --- wow, then leave it in... you must have some extra mem needs that make up for the difference.  I would think that it would run better with just the dual chan

Thats what I plan on doing (keeping the dual channel), but why dosent the comp see the extra 256 ?

Cause when I take out the dual and only put the single stick of 256 it sees it, soo theres nothing wrong with the stick

I guess your motherboard does not like that brand. It happens.
