netmasta Posted July 5, 2005 CID Share Posted July 5, 2005 is this good or bad? i just got a MOTO Surfboard 5120 Your upstream power level looks a little high. http://commerce.motorola.com/consumer/QWhtml/pdf/SB5120_DataSheet.PDF You should make sure all conections are tight. Mine is high too SB4220, but I think it's because of the hot weather.
tennesseeme Posted July 6, 2005 CID Share Posted July 6, 2005 that power level on the screen shot is sick way out of line!!!! I have a MOtorola Surfboard (SB) 5120 and would not trade it for anything in the world!. Way easy. I have a 6/1 line, i get 6.3/.75 consistently, upload will never be at 1mbps. the motorola has a great feature, (screen shot above) for diagnostics, one problem with ISP's is it finding a TIME STAMP.. this can be fixed via help from a knowledgable tech from your ISP helpdesk, i would suggest asking for a supervisor, or tier2 tech, or a "product specialist", whichever terminology your isp uses. Frequency 591000000 Hz Signal to Noise Ratio 29 dB QAM 256 Network Access Control Object ON Power Level 2 dBmV The Downstream Power Level reading is a snapshot taken at the time this page was requested. Please Reload/Refresh this Page for a new reading Upstream Value Channel ID 4 Frequency 30992000 Hz Ranging Service ID 68 Symbol Rate 3.200 Msym/s Power Level 38 dBmV as u can see, i have much diff power settings, i do however have a diff ISP im sure, and a diff speed package, which im SURE this makes a big diff. IF you have to buy your own modem ??????... get a motorola sb5120, u won't be disappointed.

bgulmom Posted July 24, 2005 CID Share Posted July 24, 2005 I am using a Motorola SurfBoard SB5120. My Netgear RP6114 v3 seemly is shot. Any suggestions for a 4 port router as a replacement? Thanks. Motorola SurfBoard SB5100 is the best one out there (my opinion) It is compatible with most of the other devices (routers and voip gizmos) I work in Voip Provider company as technical support and when even we see the customer has SB5100, its a relief to us. reno Posted July 27, 2005 CID Share Posted July 27, 2005 Your going to caught uncapping your modem, if you are, the highest modem that you can uncap right now is the sb4200, unless you to that one site and buy there package that shows you how to open the 5100, even then your going to get caught.
