Thanks Mystik I would call Comcast and make sure they switched you over to 6/768, looks like it's still 4/

MYRIAGON Posted July 10, 2005 CID Share Posted July 10, 2005 Your levels look pretty good. I wonder why they haven't upgraded you to 256QAM yet though. I think at the time he captured that he was on an older modem, I believe in another thread he said he got a new modem today. When I upgraded to the 6/768 they upgraded my modem from a SB4200 to the SB5120 Motorola, and it reflects 256QAM ......
Mystik_MDS Posted July 10, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 10, 2005 Yeah I did get a new modem as well here are the new frequencies...
dlewis23 Posted July 11, 2005 CID Share Posted July 11, 2005 Mystik_MDS your problem is your SNR is to high. Call comcast and have them send a guy out he is going to hook up this control panel direct to your cable line and change a few settings, then he should give you a directline splitter so the modem thinks its the only thing on that line. But you will still be able to split it to one other thing. I had the same problem but my SNR was even higher around 40 it needs to be around 31-34DB

REV0LUTI0NIZED Posted July 11, 2005 CID Share Posted July 11, 2005 his SNR is too high huh?
netmasta Posted July 11, 2005 CID Share Posted July 11, 2005 As CamaroZ said, you want a higher SNR. The power levels (dBmV) are what you should keep an eye on. From Speedguide.net Downstream SNR shows the strength of the signal to your cable modem as compared to the noise on the line (signal/noise). If the noise level increases the SNR value decreases. So, then high levels are good for the SNR. This number should be at 30 or more. If the SNR goes below 30 than you will probably start to experience some problems, such as intermittent connection, packet loss, etc.
CamaroZ Posted July 12, 2005 CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 His signal level's are perfect i wouldnt worry about those fyi.. the problem is the tech didnt push the 6/768 config file to your modem... meaning your still on the silver package 4/384 BTW REV0LUTI0NIZED your SNR is great.. i have never seen SNR over 42 but the higher the better lower than 30 your going to experience problems

Mystik_MDS Posted July 12, 2005 Author CID Share Posted July 12, 2005 Someone said somewhere that they were upgrading the gold tier internet users to 15 mbits or something is that true?
Mystik_MDS Posted November 3, 2005 Author CID Share Posted November 3, 2005 hey earlier on in this post you guys said that i should have a 256 QAM and I still only have a 64 QAM What exactly does the difference do for your connection and also how would I go about getting them to "give" me 256 QAM.... Also the lower the number for the downstream power level the better correct? If so how do you go about lowering your power level. My friend is having ping troubles to some game servers and his power level is 7dbmv and mine is -1 what exactly would the difference be?
