VanBuren Posted September 30, 2004 CID Share Posted September 30, 2004 If any you guys know how to tweak upload speed.pleeeeeeeease tell me. The only way to get better upload is to tweak AFD buffers, in cablenut program with win xp/2000 you can change DefaultSendWindow by defult its set to 8192. Cablenut Team recommend to use your uploadcap in KB/s x 1024 I also use that and it worked great I can see your gettin great speed already, (probl not much more to tweak on that) do you use TCP optimizer? If you feel like trying my tweaks here is a tweakguide check it out I have added a customsettings file for 5 Mbps down and 768 kbps up, i think that should work for you aswell even tho you get over 5 Mbps. http://www.testmy.net/forumz/viewtopic.php?t=605 VanBuren
MICROWAVE Posted September 30, 2004 CID Share Posted September 30, 2004 With a new formatted drive and a clean install of XP home....... in other words right out of the box from the factory, I was able to increase my speed a little more than double my original speed. Before and after. But I only use one tweak which I actually learned on my own but I use "TCP Optimizer" just cause it makes it easier..... but I don't use the setting they suggest for the TCP receive window.. I set at a lower value,it just works better for me. I guess what I'm saying is typically its not necessary to change a lot of settings for good results, of course taking into consideration that all machines are different, but a couple of years ago when I was running Win 98se the same was true double speed with little work. I know its possible to squeeze out a little more speed although a lot of testing must be done for a few days at different times to analyze if your changes really did more harm than good. Man I love this SHIT....if I wasn't spending my time doing this I maybe in a bar or smoking crack....lol(jk) And the hits just keep right on commin:) OBTW I was able to install the O.S. without ever being asked to enter product key or activate this new install, even though in the past when I reloaded over the old copy I always had to.....this is the first time I have ever seen this with any O.S. starting with win 3.1,95,etc...also some other interesting anomalies, but its working fine and I have done updates and other things with no problem....Hmmm go figure....lol Microwave

Guest PeePs Posted September 30, 2004 CID Share Posted September 30, 2004 that right there is a nice $40 , I get a $10 discount because we have their cable television also. Man do you live in Phoenix?, becuase i had "Qwest Choice Online" and it sucked. **** i wish i had that much upload. Like cable, said i live in Omaha, NE. Qwest used to be absolutely terrible here too, but like 2 years ago all of a sudden it just got good. I dont know if they fixed some cables or what but it improved a lot. I like playing multiplayer games and before it got good i would ping like 100 to every server, but now for the past 2 years i ping below 100 to most servers, and my dl speeds are fast, and my upload! I heard they advertise up to 4m down. They only send 256 up, it's capped, which you know blows for any kind of hosting a busy online game. But for $35 it's not a bad hook-up. I can jump into most any room and pretty much rock. Especially UT04. Haven't tried D3 multy yet. It looked friggin lame. Single player kicked ass though.
