Slower Posted December 4, 2005 CID Share Posted December 4, 2005 With the 7000 I think you will rarely see anything over 130 up on a consumer acct with a .78 dish. My downloads are in the 7-800 range. It beat the heck out of dialup but now I also have cable and I use that 99% of the time. This morning: ::.. bleau101 Posted December 5, 2005 CID Share Posted December 5, 2005 Ok, where can I buy a .98 dish and how much can I expect to pay? This will help my speeds right?
dwells248 Posted December 5, 2005 CID Share Posted December 5, 2005 I figured for 50 bucks it was worth the risk of not getting any better speeds, although for me it paid off. I do have the static IP so maybe there is something to needing the static IP to get the better uploads. I'm pretty sure my dish is the .74m dish because I started out on the basic consumer account. fikester Posted December 6, 2005 CID Share Posted December 6, 2005 Ok, where can I buy a .98 dish and how much can I expect to pay? This will help my speeds right? If you get one from sales at dway you can expect to drop 600 for the dish and 400 for the install ! They will not sell just the dish, you must upgrade to a new system. Slower Posted December 7, 2005 CID Share Posted December 7, 2005 Actually the .74 m dish will upload over 500 if your on the right plan. You might get a small increase in speeds with the 1m dish, but from the reports I've seen over on sat forum it won't be much. Mainly the big dish helps signal strength in bad weather... fikester Posted December 9, 2005 CID Share Posted December 9, 2005 My signal is good with the .74m, only time it loses signal is heavy downpour of rain, its the DW7000 that is the problem along with NOC. I should have already known, another scheme to lure people to that just does not perform as advertised! Speeds drop drastically every evening(even though the ad says peak speeds are to be 650-750 during peak hours.)....up speeds are to be 100-125 during peak hours, on the pro plan this is posted on Dways web site. Pure joke, obviously this crap was not ready for release to the public! Upgrade= slower downloads as well as slower web browsing, slow upload speeds with occasional higher spikes. I'm sure it will be six months until it works right, then for the DW8090 will strike.
