Lantom Posted August 5, 2005 CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 Hey all: 1) What ping should I expect when pinging www.testmy.net
just- Posted August 5, 2005 CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 You are sure when u do the speed test you are the only one in the network using the bandwidth in your house? your pings should really be under 100ms. is that modem USB or Ethernet ? Lantom Posted August 5, 2005 Author CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 Hey Just: As I said, I isolated the modem and tested that way as well, still high pings and unpredicatable results. I understand the multi user deal. We have 4 comps Xbox and VoiP, so I know it's going to get worked, that why I direct connected. Re your second question. Why would I pay for 9/1 service and try to use a USB modem.... LOL. EXCEPT for the modem all Comps and routers are 10/100/1000 until you go to the wireless side. There I'm running multichannel G so 108. Before the upgrade to 9/1 things were very consistent during tests and pings in the 50-75 range if I remember right. So what should I do about this?? Thanks LD

dn0 Posted August 5, 2005 CID Share Posted August 5, 2005 Isn't 192.168.0.1 A Linksys Router's IP Address? Are you sure you are by-passing your router? gotmilk Posted August 7, 2005 CID Share Posted August 7, 2005 I think that's the IP address for most routers, not just linksys, I don't think you're bypassing your router.
