Guest Pacers Fan Posted August 26, 2005 CID Share Posted August 26, 2005 After having difficulties uninstalling trial versions of both Zone Alarms and Sygate, I tried downloading both. An error comes up every time which doesn't allow me to open the installing program. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? Guest Pacers Fan Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 By deleting the Zone Alarms folder in my registry, I was able to get to the registration section, but once I finished, this occurred: Glb6360 has caused an error in VSINIT.DLL Glb6360 will now close
cholla Posted August 27, 2005 CID Share Posted August 27, 2005 If you have a system restore point from before you DLed the firewalls I would try that. On the Sygate if you saved it try to install it again from the saved installation file .The reason for doing this is if it is still installed this will give you the uninstall program for Sygate. If its no longer installed it should try to install it again. If you didn't save the installation file DL it again & save it this time make sure it is the same version. Then try the install. If you don't find an uninstall program for software you DL try to contact the software site to find out if it has an uninstall or how they recommend uninstalling their software. If thats not possible look in Program Files to see if there is an uninstall in the software file there. Then try addremove in the control panel .The registry should be a last resort to remove a program. I have not used Zone Alarm so I can't help you with it specifically. I already posted the ZA error, so when I try to open Sygate, I get an error which says that MSIEVC (I'm not sure on the last letter) cannot be found. I tried using Firefox to download Sygate, but it only asks which file I should use to open it, which I don't know.

cholla Posted August 28, 2005 CID Share Posted August 28, 2005 First create a folder in your drive C name it sygate. When the download window comes up select save & save DL to the sygate folder. When it finishes that's where the sygate installer should be.This way you have the installer which is also the uninstaller. Then just select open folder to make sure you have it.Then shut down everything but systray & explorer with CtrlAltDelete & install or uninstall which ever it wants to do. Then reboot. One of these 2 should get you to the download I downloaded from. http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm http://www.simtel.com/product.download.mirrors.php?id=53687 select virginia as download site This is a screenshot of the installer. cholla Posted August 28, 2005 CID Share Posted August 28, 2005 I'm still doing some checking on this but try your search to find MSIEXEC I found it in my OS(windows ME) in windows VCM It is an installer.I also found msiexec in System but it was a different version. If you cant find it .It was probably deleted someway .See if you can extract it from your windows Installation CD. I used one of the links to re-install Windows Installer and the download worked perfectly. I'll be on here again in a few weeks or months if the same doesn't work for Zone Alarms.
