drone540 Posted September 2, 2005 CID Share Posted September 2, 2005 Yeah that really is sad compared to mine.... I think I've had my speed for this entire week probably.. but just got around to running speed test.. because Comcast just kept flashing me for 30 minutes a few min ago :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 8370 Kbps about 8.4 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 1022 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Fri Sep 02 2005 01:22:35 GMT-0400 Bottom Line:: 149X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 98.53 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-VSY15H862 Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 8956 Kbps :: 1094 kB/s (7% overhead factored) :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 710 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Upload Speed is:: 87 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Fri Sep 02 2005 01:26:45 GMT-0400 Bottom Line:: 13X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 11.77 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 93.99 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-Y789LRZJX Your TRuSPEED: ^info^ 760 Kbps :: 93 kB/s (7% overhead factored) Note: I get my true speed for sure. So basically I'm 8956/760 I noticed this at first when my upload wasn't 89-90kB/sec... but was actually 92kB/sec when sending files over aim.... the other person asked... did i get faster. I was like.. I dunno maybe. LOL. Guess I really did get more stable.. I used to have like 740kb upstream true stream. I wish they'd go ahead and double or quadruple the upstream. I'd be soo happy than... send files in no time.. just like it takes no time to download files (depending on the server) At one point.. I even seen downloads at 1.3 MB/sec

tbaker397 Posted September 2, 2005 CID Share Posted September 2, 2005 Because, Theace1, he wanted to show his download/upload speeds but also wanted to show he gets a higher download than what he theoretically should according to testmy.net. I am in the same boat as he is, and welcome to the forum drone540!

I am in the same boat as he is, and welcome to the forum drone540! Thanks, I had noticed that a few days ago, but didn't follow up on it... I wonder if I actually had that speed for that entire day. I was thinking it was a glitch when I saw it... but managed to screenshot it anyway... because the downloaded MB really looked to be going at 1.34 MB/sec which amazed me enough to snap it really quickly. And it was fully stable. Makes me wonder, that they are really ready to compete with Verizon's FIOS when it comes out..... At least for downstreams.... upstreams aren't looking as great. I was hoping a rumor I heard about comcast going to 14/4 in september to compete with Verizon.... Guess we will have to wait till verizon moves into comcasts headquarters area and they notice a drop in customers, and are forced to compete with Verizon. (Don't cha just love competion to make companies stay in business. )

Syon Posted September 6, 2005 CID Share Posted September 6, 2005 If you didn't know, there are HUGE comcast problems all over the country. Primarily in South FL, North CA, and all of MD. People are getting INSANELY slow speeds. I live in Md and its horrible. I should be getting 6MB down, im getting 1-3. The upload it fine. Their routers are all screwed up, so of course its taking months to develop a patch. In MD they got the patch done, and everythign is workign correctly in those areas. They say two weeks, possibly more to fix the rest of the state.
BigRooster Posted September 6, 2005 CID Share Posted September 6, 2005 Does anybody know is Southern California has been upgraded? I keep seeing Comcast commercials on my TV talking about 6mbit upgrade. Currently Adelphia is my cable provider, but Comcast is supposed to take over sometime.
