MttFrog13 Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 check to see what ur caps are at. i think for all verizon dsl customers u type 182.168.1.1 in the address bar to see what ur caps are.
schatjager Posted October 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 Nope.. I get "operation timed out" when trying to access 182.168.1.1.
MttFrog13 Posted October 13, 2005 CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 woooops....I meant 192.168.1.1 If that doesnt work, just go to network connections, right click ur high speed connection, go to status then support, look at default gateway, type that in. This should take u to ur modem's or gateway's control panel, thats if u r using the westell gateway, or modem that comes with the dsl package, otherwise you'll have to look it up under the status and support of ur high speed connection. Since it seems u have tried everything, it seems as if the have u on the 768 connection, not 1500.
schatjager Posted October 13, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 13, 2005 ok. well i am using a router and it is showing me the router control panel and I do not see what the Caps are set at. Might need to go directly to the modem. However If I am still set at 768 then i can add one more thing that earthlink is lying to me about : (
netmasta Posted October 14, 2005 CID Share Posted October 14, 2005 Some modems use http://192.168.100.
hurricane_floyd Posted October 14, 2005 CID Share Posted October 14, 2005 Actually it depends on the brand of router/gateway you are running. My Actiontec uses 192.168.0.1, but I have seen others use it too.
schatjager Posted October 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted October 14, 2005 I have tried both of the above IP's and getting "operation timed out" on FF. I have a linksys router and Fujitsu Speedport modem.
FallowEarth Posted October 15, 2005 CID Share Posted October 15, 2005 Looking at your tracert, there is some lag between the router and modem. Try a direct connection and see if your speeds are up to your cap. If they are, look to upgrading the firmware from the website of the router vendor. resijs Posted October 16, 2005 CID Share Posted October 16, 2005 Got any firewalls? If you have zonealarm, I can see this happening. Also, when did you upgrade your connection? Like 2 to 3 days after you update they usually screw up and this happens. 786 is their lowest package and with overhead, it looks like you have it. Believe me, I called them when I upgraded to 3.0MB and they verified it to be right, but testmy said that I had a 768 connection as well, it took a while but they fixed it. They are always on edge with Database problems. I really think it's all Verizon's doing.
