XSAVAGE Posted January 20, 2006 CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 the packet loss might be fixed, but my p2p (including bitorrent) is still being blocked and this whole situation still sucks the reason that packet loss lowered is cause they blocked P2P , as soon that they unblock P2P , the speeds slow down and packet loss goes up, so to hell with P2P and block them all. They have to do everything in their power to restore service as it was before or they'll loose a lot of users to DMAX(crap too) and centennial ii. RaulJimenez Posted January 20, 2006 CID Share Posted January 20, 2006 So far the connection has been pretty stable, my signal levels in the cable modem are very bad but I have to call a teach to correct the problem, so far so good. I talked about the p2p to the tech and they told me they are implenting it as a band aid fix till they fix their routing problem speciall with miami, lets hope is the truth. nebula Posted January 21, 2006 CID Share Posted January 21, 2006 I'm getting 100+kB/s downstream on p2p, so i think it was temporary, I hope I'm not wrong. If not there could be another solution, take a look at this http://www.centennialpr.com/ii/, It's a new wireless broadband service from centennial in the metro area i think. 2.4 Mbps, 300-700 downstream, let me know what you think... I'm out of my apartment for the weekend but I'll certainly check my onelink connection as soon as I get back, if it still sucks then that centennial alternative looks pretty tempting. Thanks for the heads up! EDIT: Didn't see the 1 year required contract! that's a major let down.
resopalrabotnick Posted January 21, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 21, 2006 remember to change cablenut files if you use them since the modem caps were lowered.

fastrax Posted January 23, 2006 CID Share Posted January 23, 2006 I was trying to download something from bittorrent this afternoon. Are they still blocking p2p and bittorrent or capping (limiting) the speeds? Is it time for us to start calling Onelink

resopalrabotnick Posted January 23, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 23, 2006 don't know bout p2p, as for capping, i think not. if possible they give the speed to your modems cap as far as i can tell. right now i get around 2 mbit testing, give or take 500k. krlitos Posted January 23, 2006 CID Share Posted January 23, 2006 man, the internet's slow as a snail and my p2p or bittorrent doesn't work either. any of you checked to see if the techies are blocking it again? if anyone has any info please share! Tibu Posted January 24, 2006 CID Share Posted January 24, 2006 My packetloss came back about 4 hours ago Right I don't care if they block P2P temporarily as long as I'm not getting these 5-10 secs stalls of activity.

resopalrabotnick Posted January 24, 2006 Author CID Share Posted January 24, 2006 the interesting thing i have noticed is that when the service goes flaky and i release and renew the wan ips on my router i get no ip at all or an ip without a connection. in some cases i get nan ip that is not from the 70.x.x.x range onelink uses but one that is from the 169.x.x.x range adelphia used to have. that tells me that the local dhcp is off the net and for some reason the dhcp requests by the modem are gotting bumped to miami where they get an adelphia ip. the latest info i have is still that the local net is fine and from all things going on it seems ok as long as they are not rearranging things while they are still trying to get a hookup in miami that doesn't get overloaded during peak hours. any time the link is slow the slowdown is still only visible on pings and traceroutes at or after the miami hops.
