yibbleyab Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 First off I'd like to apologize if this is in the wrong place but I didn't know if there was a more specific place to make this topic
ghostmaster Posted November 21, 2005 CID Share Posted November 21, 2005 Can you post a screenshot, or the contents of the boot.ini file? It's probably just a bad entry.
FallowEarth Posted November 22, 2005 CID Share Posted November 22, 2005 Is it WIN XP? I'm thinking this will help you: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330184 Sol'n #2: from the command prompt: CHKDSK/R Sol'n #3: From XP CD, go to Recovery Console Mode, run "fixboot" Sol'n #4: From XP CD, go to Recovery Console Mode, run "fixmbr"
DJVageli Posted November 22, 2005 CID Share Posted November 22, 2005 Couldnt have said it better myself FallowEarth BTW..if all those dont work, you can try booting up with a startup disk, try to get to a command prompt, and try to edit your boot.ini file to the correct settings. If not..then you would have to reformat, and re-install
raptors892004 Posted November 22, 2005 CID Share Posted November 22, 2005 i think it would be for the best if you could post the boot.ini file so we can see if there's anything wrong with it

yibbleyab Posted November 25, 2005 Author CID Share Posted November 25, 2005 ok so the comp is set to NTFS not FAT32. I wasnt able to run the chkdsk until restart and everything came back ok. Also the fixboot and fixmbr didnt work from the CMD. Is it possible I have a virus that Norton, Spysweeper, and Adaware arent picking up? Man I feel like a noob not being able to figure this out
raptors892004 Posted November 25, 2005 CID Share Posted November 25, 2005 to view ur current boot.ini file, go to: control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup and recovery settings -> and then press Edit button This will open notepad with your current boot.ini file in it.. Just copy+paste what it says in this forum and we can better tell you if its something from it
