resopalrabotnick Posted December 1, 2005 CID Share Posted December 1, 2005 the puerto rico telephone company also runs a dsl plan at 64k. just for the sheer hell of it i called tech support and asked them if that wasn't the same speed as isdn, and why in hell do they use the dsl equipment to go at dsl speeds? the reply was a question. 'what's isdn?' <sigh>

resopalrabotnick Posted December 3, 2005 CID Share Posted December 3, 2005 actually when getting the line for the home office i wanted to get isdn to enjoy all the features. the guy i got on the line that knew what isdn was said no can do, you don't have 4 wires from the distribution box in the urbanization to the house available. only 2. - 2? - yes, 2. - so i can get isdn. - no isdn needs 4 wires into the house. - (thinking: so all the isdn lines i've hooked up before were only half isdn?) - can i speak to your supervisor please. - <not-so-super-visor> no, you ned 4 wires. i gave up... resopalrabotnick Posted December 5, 2005 CID Share Posted December 5, 2005 thats what i tried to explain to him. 4 wires inside for the bus, yeah. but just 2 outside, the whole point being isdn on pots infrastructure. like dsl. which they offer w/o additional wires.
