x_6985381 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 a little lag may happen, but amd = gaming machines. nvidia has always worked for me.. im running one right now in mine depends on what you mean by -ordinary gaming- plus almost every card will give you great performance the price is a factor.. but compare before you buy!.. all i can say as right now. Dilatedpeoples28 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 i think u should def get more ram and get a 6600 or 6600 gt, that should produce too much bottlenecking by ur processor
x_6985381 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 i have a evga 6600 pci-e works great...! no lag. i luv evga

Dilatedpeoples28 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 yea if u could possibly wait longer and just build urself a new system a good cheap one would cost u around 500. that would be ALOT better than just upgrading ur gpu now. As u have very little ram and a very old and tired cpu.

dlewis23 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 32 mb integrated s3 prosavage.... piece of crap i would say spend the extrx $50 and get the BFG 6600 card it is about 200% faster then the ati you were locking at. Nvidia is a much beter GPU then ATI. and 1000% faster then that card you got now.

dlewis23 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 would I still get descent performance with my processor yes you have a good processor, you would be able to run BF2 on all medium at 1024x768 with now problem. you could play doom 3 with all settings on high at 1024x768, get that card and then in a few weeks get some more ram. Dilatedpeoples28 Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 i disagree doom3 on all high with 384mb ram, is not happening, unless u have nothing in the background running, even then it wont be smooth.

It will work its when he puts it utlra settings is when he is going to have a problem, i have doom 3 running a 1.7ghz p4 with 512mb of ram and a geforce fx 5600 with no problem. when a game is at a resolution higher then 640x480 its all on the video card,

RTB Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 It's a bit of a waste though, with the help of a NV Silencer 6 I'm running this XFX 6600GT AGP at 570/1200 24/7 stable. You can always do that kind of OC yourself.
PioneerCrazed Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 This is a good deal if you're are able to grab one online. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130220
disturbed Posted December 14, 2005 CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 there is no way you can have a decent gaming machine starting out with that system - upgrading your ram will give you some boost - not a lot at all - your processor power is holding you back big time buddy - screw getting a new video card, save up some money and get something you can actually game with
amc11890 Posted December 14, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 14, 2005 i dont have enough money to upgrade the processor
