Sharky2006 Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 With so many freeware programs, I can't seem to find one that will assist in my hiding my IP address. I hate it when I can go to WhatismyIP.com and it easily tells me what it is. Can anyone help?
richcornucopia Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 You can use a program that will reroute all of your connections to a porxy server so your ip appears to be that of the proxy server.
Sharky2006 Posted December 20, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 What program will do that?
richcornucopia Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 That depends what you want to do, do you just want your internet connections to be rerouted? Because if so, you can just edit you proxy settings under your internet options.
direcuser Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 A program such as Anonymizer will do just fine. It is not free but does just great for me.
richcornucopia Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Yea those work, but a free solution is just configuring you internet browser.
Sharky2006 Posted December 20, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 By the way, you may want to look at my latest post regarding Deleting index.dat files. I use this weekly. So my guess here is that there is no freeware program (which is hard to believe...but if there isn't then that's the breaks)...

FallowEarth Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Search google for a free anonymous proxy. Once you find one, add it to your Internet properties.
6arett Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 What if you wanted to use a diffrent IP address but still have your same connection? Is that possibal?
richcornucopia Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Using a proxy is kind of like having a different ip address.
lorne Posted December 20, 2005 CID Share Posted December 20, 2005 Yep using proxxy in browser will work just fine. But you have to know where to get truly anonymous proxxies. Many will say anonymous but they still forward some information that your IP can be found from. Go here for truly anonymous proxxies http://www.checker.freeproxy.ru/checker/last_checked_proxies.php

Sharky2006 Posted December 22, 2005 Author CID Share Posted December 22, 2005 FBI tips and public leads? I don't get it. I just don't want my IP address public because from what I have read, hackers can use your IP address to access data of yours....
