resopalrabotnick Posted December 21, 2005 CID Share Posted December 21, 2005 i'm going to use it as a secondary fallback, but the part about google looking through my mails for keywords to add ads, i don't know. what other statistics are they collecting in the process? they say no person ever sees the mails. i dunno. too agressive advertising. richcornucopia Posted December 21, 2005 CID Share Posted December 21, 2005 Google says that they are just scanning the emails to deliver conetent based advertisements, but knowing that they are actually scanning my emails is kind of unnerving. resopalrabotnick Posted December 21, 2005 CID Share Posted December 21, 2005 ecactly. that's why they are only going to be a tertiary address for me.made me laugh when the signup page asked for a secondary email. freemailers as primary email addy? not. richcornucopia Posted December 21, 2005 CID Share Posted December 21, 2005 Thats why I've been trying out walla email recently. Its pretty nice 3 gigs of space, you don't need an invite to sign up and I don't think they spy on your emails. http://www.walla.com/

resopalrabotnick Posted December 30, 2005 CID Share Posted December 30, 2005 that 30 gig business model has to be based on people sing on average only a few hundred megs at most. just 333 users would mean they need a TB of storage on hand. i'll bet that anyone using more than 2.5 gigs, which they can mirror out to a gmail account, get's shut down. or something like that if you want e-mail with lots of storage, imap access, forwards etc. look at what webhosters are offering. you will get a few hundred megs of ftp storage, webspace, a domain or two, a bunch of e-mails, all for just a few bucks a month.
