  1. Have you restarted your modem lately? Unhook the cable and touch the end for 10+ seconds, and rehook it back up. On the pro I have no idea. I pay $59.95 for the home package.
  2. So how does it act directly hooked to the modem?
  3. Yeah, Norton bites in my book too. I would not pay a dime for their protection, if you can call it that.
  4. Where ya been hiding Sparticus?
  5. Probably just a lot of traffic.
  6. Welcome to the forum danobegood Hope you find your speeds.
  7. Wont that mean all new equipment again?
  8. Actually I meant the air cooled jobs.
  9. Sheers don't hide much water. He told you he had a spy. And I work cheap.
  10. To view this video, please verify you are 18 or older by logging in or signing up.
  11. I guess I did not mean that short. If you let an engine just run continually at full throttle it is hard on them. But if you just take a short ride around the block, little harm done. And I happen to have a pc made by volkwagen... ...never mind, they can take it too.
  12. You might think of it this way Roco, how long would you let an engine race or rev up? Not for very long but a short burst does not hurt much. I do it everyday with no trouble. Been doing it for over a year. Keeps the bugs out...and quit reading.
  13. Welcometo the forum mcuryto That would be nice, wouldn't it?
  14. I defrag everytime I start up. It only takes a few minutes to get my updates and defrag and disk cleanup. Then I am good for the night and it does not take very long. It only takes a long time because you seldom do it. Try it, defrag it and then defrag right after that. It should not take over a minute. Yes 60 seconds. The maintenance schedule is in here storm. Achieve the Best Performance Out of Your Computer http://www.testmy.net/t-4257 If you will notice it says bi-weekly on defrag. That is why I do it daily, so I will not forget. And it takes little time that way. And I try to scan every Saturday morning.
  15. Experience. Many have said this. Now some might not notice the difference 2 or 3 %, a few days will make. Others have noticed 10-15% difference. The settings sort of settle in. Like a sponge, it will take on water, but it will take a few minutes to fully soften up when it is totally dried up. I got on the higher 10-15% myself, when mine sped up. Each might be different.
  16. People just have to mess with things instinctively. If they think they can make it better for next to nothing, they have to try. And unfortunately sometimesthey lose. We do the same to our computers. Who take a strangers advise and do anything to his or her computer, we advise people everyday on here. They really don't know us. But we have built up a trust with the public. That in no ways means we are right. And some comps cost much more.
  17. It is supposed to change the registry. "As with SpeedGuides TCPOptimizer this simple makes a few changes to your registry." All I know is it smooths things out for better speeds if needed. Also remember the fill effects will not fully kick in for 3 days. Most of it right now though. So by Sat. morning it shoud be a bit faster.
  18. Yep, it never hurts to play till you got it where you want it. I haven't messed with mine since I reformatted last summer.
  19. Yeah, when you change your speeds you do need to do that. Should have asked me.
  20. They are going through scheduled downtime. Maybe tomorrow.
  21. Welcome to the forum missrunt Nice speeds for road runner. What are your advertised speeds??
  22. What tweaking??
  23. So I assume I am not the only one that was drinking then.
  24. Poor slob, he at least wrote his suicide letter first.
  25. Go ahead Reso. I got lost after the third letter.
