  1. Im wondering if the FAP is more lenient or the uploads do not count towards the bucket of 425MB allowed and the recovery rate?

My usage for 3computers seems to have went over the limit, but did not get nailed?

still getting good speeds too, even in the evening.....for now anyway the advertised speeds are at or above package numbers.

  2. I wish my WB speeds were that good =( Oh, and I'm on their Select package that I had installed in September... only reach advertised speeds VERY rarely. I'm going to cancel this contract if the technician doesn't show up on 11/2. And they can kiss my grits if they try to hoodoo me with the contract. They have not delivered as promised/advertised.

Yes those speeds look pretty sad.....would be expecting advertised "up to" speeds or at minimun during peak hours 80% of package speeds. Thats what WildBlue told me when I was shopping around? A scientist posted on the WB forum that "up to" obviously meant less than and basically you shouldn't expect to get those advertised speeds. :whaa: I'm thinking the up to speeds is what you should get or real close to the package speed payed for. Keep running your test during different hours of the day.In the mean time while waiting for the tech....file a claim with the BBB against WildBlue Communications. Nothing worse than paying for something you dont get. Many user are being told all kinds of silly things, even not not to use the service in the evening and not to check speeds during prime time from other sites. :2funny:

  3. Just in case there is a WB user getting good speeds during prime time....

Requested test time 8pm-10pm est also please note the testmy server logs the time in GMT with no DST

The following test was run at 7am....note the server time shown, just in case a scientist missed that part. Please log in as well, this way the test results are recorded and allow for a true average speed.

  4. the autotest is from this site. It is the one where testmy starts with a smaller file and keeps testing until it takes longer than 7 seconds to download. Then it gives the results. I could reconnect the WildBlue hardware and do the test during prime time for you. It wouldn't be that hard to do. I quit posting once I got Wild Blue because my speeds were as promised most of the time and most people post speeds because they are pissed off. If I remember, I will do the test tomorrow around 5pm and then post it here with the rest of the testmy info. The speeds I posted already however were the top numbers in the typical test results.

no need to reconnect the system, but if you happen to do that.....log in and test upload and download after 8pm est, the server time will log GMT with no DST. Again no need to reconnect the system, I'm sure WB will charge you....likely the speeds weren't recorded because you wasn't logged in, as I just run the SmarTest and it did record in my log. The WB package you had was the pro 1500/256...?

  5. I have always had consistent 1.5Mbps download speeds all times of the day. That is why I tolerated WB. The upload speed was never 256Kbps but since the DL was consistent, I didn't look around. Here are the last test results I did just before the wireless was installed. I tested the ping rate as well. Then I will show the results of the wireless tests. They have to come out tomorrow and put another transmitter up pointing in my direction. Right now I am on the end of a 180 degree arc but with the new transmitter, I will be right in the center and speeds will stay consistent and the ping time will drop. Some times the wireless gives me 2Mbps up and down and sometimes it only gives me 500 up and down but that is STILL faster than WB just for basic page loading with very low ping times. Here are my last WB test results done at around 1pm PST on Friday, October 23rd. The wireless tests were done at around 3pm PST.

I'm not familiar with the auto test, myself would have to see test validation from this site to prove accurate. Hughes used to have a test site that would show much higher scores than testmy would, now Hughes is more accurate but still not the same as actual speeds. Too bad you didn't do those test on this site as I have been asking for weeks to see test done during peak hours 8pm-10pm est from WB users.

I see where you have tested direcpc and wireless, but no WildBlue? http://www.testmy.net/tools/database/db_search.php?type=user&q=frodoboy

  6. Someone needs to debunk all this misguided information instead of following it.

I will tell you were the misguided info comes from is posts like yours and others trying to cover up problems that WildBlue is having, and trying to hide the real experience a user will have. If the speeds are slow then state they are slow......when Hughes is slow or fouling up......I post my experience as it is. I think its foolish to tell people no need to test during prime time because not interested in traffic handling ability.  :tard: (thats not misguided....?) and then brag how well the average speeds have been in 2.5 yrs.  :icon_scratch:  :2funny:

    http://www.wildblueworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2735

Its plain to see who is bitter here also plain to see who is posting their true experience with the satellite internet provider as well.(yes even during prime time)

You or anyone will never convince me to run speed test only in AM hours.....(if this is the case think I can pretty much say Hughes/DirecWay has never had a problem in years! as it always run good 2am-7am est)

  7. Even without looking at the WildBlue BBB rating.....lets take a look at WB actual speeds. Lets see some WB users post some speed test done all different times of the day.......not just early AM hours.

uploads and downloads and state what service plan your on. From what I have thus far.....the majority of WB users will not run test during evening hours at all.......?  whats to hide  :?:

  8. Good speeds there fikester. Hope it holds up there. Don't go away mad, ........

Satelite has always sucked and been the only alternative to dial-up for years for many. But it does look like it may be turning for once. A good thing to see really.

For the longest time I thought it was gonna be BPL that replaced satelite.  [nerdly]

Yes, I had anticipated getting BPL this year......the power company still has not started installs.  Maybe sometime in the next 40yrs I will have an option of real broadband with unlimited usage? For now Hughes it is.

  9. My speed is still good on during a good soaking steady rain....dark green/yellow on radar.....signal on the HN9000 reduced to around 150

  10. knowing my luck recently they will be like oh we lost it but we shipped another one out..but we are charging you for both of them  :haha: :haha:

nah but sometimes carriers dont update their site frequently enough to show it really shipped. but if all goes liek it should and like i paid over 70 bucks extra for...it should be here tomorrow right before i leave for work.  :grin2:

If it dont arrive ontime, likely you can request a refund on the extra shipping cost......

  11. Also, it's worth noting that we are about to have bad weather and it's very, very, very, very, very cloudy.

    http://www.accuweather.com/us/ms/seminary/39479/city-weather-forecast.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&u=1

It seems my hughes Ka band speeds are not affected by clouds either......big rain coming here too, no speed change until signal drops into the 60's my peak signal is 180.

Heavy rain in forecast next two days....will run test in rain, clouds, if the signal status is green, speeds will not be any different than if the sky was clear.

  13. From some basic testing I have done on a wireline connection, is that 100Kbps upload maximum is all you need to request webpages.  Unless of course those webpages have many links loading from various sites to render on the one page.

It also helps to fully control any uploading by the end users as well.

I'm not arguing what speed is needed to request web page.....have yet to see a WildBlue customer get advertised upload speed at any given time, not to even mention peak hour speed. Myself want what I pay for, would not be happy just because its enough speed to browse the web. Obviously there is a problem with the speeds on both of the mentioned accounts.

  14. A few months ago I was considering switching to WB, they told me that at any given time uploads or downloads would always be at least 80% of package speeds.......I can see this is not the case at all. Here is a WB customer who is on the pro plan which should be getting 1500/256

80% of package speeds? not hardly,  :bs:

also according to the mods on WB all is fine and the ones not getting good speeds need a reinstall..... myself would be filing a complaint with the BBB and getting some free service.

    pro plan.......http://www.testmy.net/tools/database/db_search.php?type=user&q=johnl

    select plan........http://www.testmy.net/tools/database/db_search.php?type=user&q=micwa1

I'm not sure how you say downloads aren't really a problem, when some of the dwonload speeds are below 100k? Neither of the above WB users speed test show me advertised speeds during peak hours or advertised uploads at any given time. Myself will not sugar coat my service provider, when the performance is having issues I will post my exact experience. I pay the IP , not the other way around. They want good reviews then provide what I'm paying for.

  15. From the speed test I have seem from WildBlue the only time the downloads are at advertised speeds is in the AM hours and the uploads are rarely ever at advertised speeds.......select pack is 1000/200, none of the upload test are at 200. Hughes very much does have issues....even when I have had speed issues with them its been during peak evening hours only. I almost switched to WB.... :icon_scratch:

  16. well i have seen a lot of people complain about satellite internet and i can agree with a lot of what people say. but i have never had a problem with my sat for a little over two years now my down load speed is never under a 1 meg i pay for 1.5meg . the only problem is that during the day my upload is a little slow , but at night i see it go through the roof i get all my bandwidth and more at night . also as far as the fair use    policy i get 17000meg down and 5000 up in a thirty day period . try that on any other sat . but i do have to say the biggest problem is latency , i cant play wow and that sucks. rain is not a problem for  me . through hurricane Ike never lost internet   and that was with 30 -50 mph winds. customer service is a joke. the only problem i have ever had with my sat is the upload connector the crimp on connector that they use went out shorting the system out to the point it would not get a signal  a trip to radio shack for a new cable end saved me 150 in service call. o by the sat way  is the only thing to get on the internet here in south east Texas 1 hour from Houston . no cable service . sat for TV sat for internet.share2-E6AI9RLKH

Your speed test history does not reflect your post at all? In fact according to your posted FAP limits 17000/5000 this means your on the pro plan....advertised speed is 1500/256. Your test results reveal that you never get the 256k upload speed with WildBLue in fact its well below 256k. The downloads are never under 1meg  :confused1:  you better look again because the test results show different. I see all of these speed test are done in the early am hours and before 6pm in the evening......I'm very curious to see what speeds you would get between 8pm-10pm est. with WildBLue. I know if I were getting those speeds paying for the pro pack with WB....definitely would be filing complaints.

    http://www.testmy.net/tools/database/db_search.php?type=user&q=johnl

oh your math doesn't work out for the FAP either, as with Hughes pro pack allows 425MB/day plus free period from 2-7am so at 1600kbps this works out to:

4025MB per day or 30days 120,750MB pretty sure thats higher than 17,000 (although at times the rolling FAP does have advantages over the free time window.)

  18. Sounds like you might enjoy that phone call....

Seems the evening speed issue is fixed for me now (finally).......this is like the 4th evening in a row with at or above advertised speeds, so I'm satisfied for now. I'm sure the issue will crop up again in the near future with all the Ku customers switching to the Ka system.

For me my time on the phone complaining was well worth the effort: free equipment, free install and 30days free service, and no 2yr contract.

Plus sold my HN7000S and two transmitters on eBay........$155  :2funny:
