A friend of mine wrote this for me. I think it's good: "How Man Was Created" On the First Day gOD created the earth and the heavens...cause he was bored being all powerfull and what not with nothing to do On the Second Day gOD created the Darkness and he was pretty happy about that....he then created his living room and a nice comfy chair with a foot stool so he could sit back and relax and check out what he has done so far On the Third Day gOD was roaming around his new house and smashed his big toe into his newly created coffee table...cause he forgot where he put it.....he then said "mE Damnit...mE Damnit" and then Created Light....which he immediately bitched about because it was too bright (after the case of beer he created after creating the darkness so he could sit in his garage and drink it and get a hangover)...so he then created the soft glow light bulbs which felt much better....he then created the stars and the moon.... On the Fourth Day gOD wondered what it would be like if the moon was actually a giant ball of fire.....this utterly pissed him off and he created Many Designer sun glasses which he dubbed Oakley and Ray Ban....he then decided that if he was gonna be annoyed by all this he had to have others to be annoyed as well so he created Man On the Fith Day gOD got tired of Man lounging in his Big Comfy Chair and kicked him out and sent him to earth....he created a nice lil place for him to live...but Man was bitching that he kept getting horny but there was no way in hell he was f!@%^g the bloody bunny rabbit or the deer...he complained they were to fast and it just would be way wrong On the Sixth Day gOD got tired of Man's bitching and moaning....so he Created this really hot chic for him to play with....this made Man very happy but acted like a bone head around the Woman...and thus gOD determined that he shall be known as a bone head...and thus the term Boner was born

NO Your provider and the weather will control your speed. When we originally got satellite it was because it was all that was available, and I'm not sure, but for him it may still be all that is available. Cable is (right now) the way to got if your provider has decent prices and speeds.

Lorne is most likely right - a HUM should prolly be a fan. To avoid this, get a second one, or move your PC away from the wall (if that doesn't work right now, until you can get another one, use an external fan and have it blow directly on the back of your PC or set it on TOP of the AC vent and turn the AC ON ), and out from underneath anything else, and see if that helps. If not, you may HAVE to get another fan. I have 4. Believe it or not, I still get overheating. A CLANK will be your hard drive going bad (most likely) and not something to play around with. Run a virus scan, spyware and adware scan just to be safe. Worms and Trojans are nasty.

More Ram isn't only a good idea, it will be required if you multitask. I agree with the recommendations of those in here - 512 is a start. I have a Gig of it, and I still have issues once in a while. Since we are near X-Mas, watch the local papers for sales on it.. they are notorious for trying to get you to spend your money to boost sales, so you can normally get a great deal. In the US, I have seen 512 for sale for $79. Best Buy, Circuit City and stores that do nothing BUT computer sales are a good bet. About compatibility, google the processor you have such and add +RAM+Compatible. Not to hard. If you need more help searcing for online deals, PM me. I'm a chick, i can SHOP! After you do get more ram, let us know, my bet after that is spy/adware or a good trojan supporter which can be free, but you cant know if it will REALLY help until you upgrade. Another avenue is turing off your automatic start up user proceese, but I won't get into that right now.

Calgon, first off hello. How into computers is your child really? I have one that is currently building his own, with birthday and Christmas present money. Yes, he's extremely bright, but it's a great learning experience for kids, so his dad and I are supporting that the best we can. Not only do they get to learn, but they end up with a functional computer that they can use for a few years. If you want "toys" there are a LOT of game downloads out there that are free, and can turn it into a toy, and I would be happy to link you to some sites that you can download legally and for free is you wish to choose this route. As for the "toy" laptops... if your child is as advanced as you say, they will get bored within a month. Computers are fascinating to children, and a wonderful gift to give them.
