Slow? i don't think so I have unlimited with 3G and have hit as high as 4400 kbps down and 1500 kbps up using the opera mini browser on the dual test. Posting from the phone right now in fact.

Something is wrong with the test and they may be wrong because there is no test size above 6 mb because there was issues with the bigger sizes so he removed them from the site. I have Fios and OOL internet and my 5 mb upload get about 13 mb when I do the test which says its broken.
yea ts messed up and here is my 20 mb upload which is wrong

I got a couple of the same type of results from the 15 Mb file also, but I knew those were wrong, I figured it was because of caching, I cleared the cache and tried again and get the result given in my test, which is consistent with my cap. You gotta love the 20 mb upload.

No need for his current settings... Just use this settings file and you should be fine.. please post tests afterwards.
-
What are your advertised speeds? Never mind I found out from your provider's website it's 2000/256 with a 1 meg tier for those not capable of a 2 meg connection because of distance. Must be DSL based. Try this cablenut settings file and see if there's any change:
-
please post a test result from the download test and also your advertised speeds.
-
What brand and model?
-
If the router is only 4 feet away from the computer I'd run it wired using good quality Cat-6 cable instead of going wireless. Interference from nearby electronics can severely limit wireless speeds.
BTW if speed dropped that much from just going wireless you should definitely go wired.

Here's my results on the test in the link:

I know terraslayer's result is cached 15 Mbps is the fastest speed you can get with roadrunner. Not even business customers can get faster than that.
-
Hold on I may have to modify the settings file. From the OP I had no Idea this was for a DSL connection and used an MTU of 1500 Here's the settings for 384/128 for a 1492 MTU :
-
I think Sharky2006 has a point. Learning that results you get are cached is quite deflating on its own, but when someone says it in a manner that is derogatory, it can be upsetting.
If a member is posting cached results, chances are it is because they don't know it's cached. If you feel the need to bring it to their attention, I would suggest also providing something constructive, like a mirror they can try, or to clear their cache, etc. etc.
Also like I stated some cached results are within the "normal" limits of some broadband plans, I almost mistook his cached result for a 15 mb FIOS result. But I can sympathize. ON my first post about my 15/2 connection I had someone tell me it was cached. Luckily though showing them a result from the 20mb flat test proved my connection to be true. don't always jump to the assumption that it's cached. especially with providers like Verizon, RR etc. They all offer very high speed options.
-
thnx cdf216! i will post the results later ok...
Edit: thanx for the file but it bring my connection from 302Kbps down to 268... sorry if i dont post the result here..
Please post a tracert to testmy.net I could not take individual latency into account and file is set to a latency of 200ms
-
good thing you found out it was a "bug" in your download cache, from the results in the 13 - 14000 range I would have thought you were on a FIOS connection and your upload needed severe tweaking
-
Here you both go a 384/128 cablenut settings file: Please post test results.

The BEFSR41 is an excellent router Yes there are a few still around from th days before linkyys merged with cisco but the routers are the same. probably better. I own the "41" myself and still use it on occasion.
-
damn, whats your advertise download and upload speeds?
your upload is f*cken fast
That's because he's using a College connection UNLV to be exact or the Universtiy of Las Vegas.
Compare your Verizon Fios Speeds ( ONLY VERIZON FIOS )

I'm in Tampa FL and here's a test of my 20/20 connection, the uload is a little slow for some reason but it isn't tweaked either.
