ok let's try fixing the settings for a 50 ms latency which is easy enough Open Cablenut and retrieve your current settings. then change the following values:

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize to 52560

TcpWindowSize to 52560

Leave everything else the same and try both a speed test and time it for page loading while browsing. sometimes a compromise is needed.

BTW I just calculated and your are getting 8896 kbps on a 8000 kbps line or 896 k over your cap not bad.

OK see how this settings file does for you. it's set for a latency of 150ms which should be plenty Please post results from both the normal testmy servers here in the US and VanBuren's european server.

the only pings in that trace that are higher than normal is the firts  hop which should be under 5 ms but 10-15 ms is acceptable. All other hops seem fine. Now if you're concerned with the bandwidth-latency issue. we can always make a custom ccs file based on your current latency which seems to be 80-100 ms max.

To be honest that's a lot of unnecessary stuff running in the background that could potentially be slowing your connection by either using bandwidth or making data go through unneeded processes. Look for a little application called "Enditall" run it and use it to "kill" all non critical processes running on your computer, then try another speed test.

From what I've heard FIOS 15/2 is always on. however FIOS severly blocks ports including ones commonly used for P2P applications, running game servers, and even blocks web hosting. so you can't run servers of any type with FIOS. Though normal uploading and downloading browsing etc is allowed. I'm not sure if there are any usage caps. I was thinking of geting FIOS until they refused to install it in my apartment building Glad RR Tampa Bay offers 15/2.

At that distance from your CO you're doing very good to be getting 1500 kbps from a 3000 kbps line. as it would take being within 100 ft of the CO to get the full 3000. Everything looks fine... blame the "slowness" of yoru connection on the fact you are almost out of range for your connection. DSL is only good at a maximum of 15,000 ft from the CO.

Please tell us how far. it may simply be you are too far away to get full speed from your provider.

Not necessarily. have you checked the speed from the other computers in the network?  especially those connected via ethernet. And remember DSL speed is determined by distance from the CO and very few actually get the advertised speed you would have to live right next door to the CO to get a 3000 kbps connection on a 3000 kbps line. I'm betting if you run wired to the router You will see a huge increase in speed though.

Isnt it weird ?? I just notice this. Upload speed is running only at 61.55% while Download speed is only at 32% , y wouldnt both of them be the same ?!

Because it's the average of everyone that has tested from your ISP not percentage of your advertised speed. ISPs offer a range of different speeds. Verizon for instance has speeds ranging from 256/128 kbps for DSL Lite all the way up to 30/5 mbps for a full blown FIOS connection. you will never reach 100% in both unless you have FIOS.

first thing to do is make sure all antivirus and firewall software is disabled when running the speed tests. Also try running a test with the computer connected directly to the modem, without the router. The RWIN looks ok for a 5000/384 connection.

It would help to know which package you have. Optimum online offers speeds of up to 30 mbps down so being "only" 35% of the average for that company could still be within the norm if you are only signed up for a 3000 Kbps package.
