dern that must be the worst settings i ever seen for a broadband connection download and install Cablenut https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=64 download Dr.TCP http://www.dslreports.com/front/DRTCP021.exe open Dr.Tcp make sure all setting is set to default and all fields MUST be blank, if you see a value, use delete and erase em, now click apply and exit the program now open cablenut and click dlete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry reboot your pc, also reboot your modem and router for 30 seconds now make a new speedtest, use the 2992 KB file downstream and 1496 KB file upstream also make a new tweaktest and post result VanBuren

well the SP1 3000 file using a TcpWindowSize of 64240 and that works very well, it might not give the best speed on a speedtest cos there is less burst compared to a TcpWindowsize of 256960 however the true speed, will be the same for 90% of the users downloading a large file also the 64240 value has no windows scaling and gives a snappy webrowsing compared to the larger value thats why i choosed it the 3500/384 file from Version 4 also using a TcpWindowSize of 64240 but has a AFD tweak, so with SP2 it will report a RWIN of 437248 the TcpWindowSize can be calculated if you know your MSS ( MTU-40 ) and your maximal bandwidth in KB/s and the worst possible ping to your gateway http://www.dslnuts.com/bitsbytes.shtml the hard thing is to determin the latency, this is diffrent for diffrent users aswell but ive learned that a value between 150-300 works very well. all my tweakfiles is not calculated, i sometimes use values that i know work very well wit that type of connection VanBuren

Help!! Me!! DSL 512/256 Kbps not, Slow Uploads and Downloads
VanBuren replied to BaTo-LoCo's topic in Make it Faster...
try this, open cablenut change DefaultReceivewindow to 65536 and click save to registry now reboot, also reboot your modem and router for 30 seconds post new speed, use the 2992 KB test down and 1496 KB test upstream VanBuren -
Its a AFD tweak thats why it reporting high, hes TcpWindowSize is not high, its only 31944 VanBuren
-
dern, this was odd, i suggest you delete all tweaks and let tech from your ISP bring up your speed open dr.Tcp and where you see MTU, use delete and erase the value 1492 so the field is blank, click apply now open cablenut and click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry now reboot post again when your ISP has fixed your speed, atleast your upload, im almost sure it suppose to be 384 Kbps also powercycle your router and modem for 30 full seconds good luck VanBuren

this is a guide how to set 10 Mbps half duplex, ignore that and set it to 100 Mbps full duplex quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK to exit the Connection properties.
