  1. oh ok i had a similar problem myself, pc locked up only when surfing on web and sometimes it just shut off, i didnt get any error message, it was a damaged RAM stick VanBuren
  2. hey cappy so you didnt reformat and reinstalled XP after you changed mobo, ram and cpu? Ive seen on other forums alot of ppl getting errors and bluescreen if they upgrade some hardware without reinstall windows XP i would do that, backup all you like to keep and make a full reformat and install XP again VanBuren

  6. yea those settings are for a 3000 384 connection, but it seem to work very well for you aswell VanBuren

  9. hey Indestructable i belive you, you should have learned try powercycle your modem and router for 30 full seconds and try again, if that dosent help do this start-run-cmd type pathping testmy.net and hit enter again when its done, rightclick choose all and hit enter paste all here VanBuren

  11. hey sandandsnow22 not a stupid question but, i dont think there is many members that tested all these OS and then its hard to vote, like me i use win XP Pro and like it alot, but maybe the others is better maybe the question should have been what OS you running? VanBuren
  12. i have seen speed of 11 Mbps down and 8 Mbps up on a vdsl connection, but my isp has stoped selling that service, i dunno why but i suppose they make more money on adsl.... VanBuren

  14. download this attached file, its made for MTU 1460 unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut open cablenut, in top left corner, click file, load custom settings file, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubbleclick on the file you unzipped now you have some values in adjuster, click save to registry and reboot VanBuren
  15. 1460 is probl the highest possible manual set 1460 on your router and check speed use 2992 KB test downstream and 1496 KB upstream, i will make a tweakfile for you VanBuren
  16. open cablenut, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry try this satellite tweakfile it will probl work alot better over this high ping downlaod this attached file and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut load it from cablenut and click save to registry and reboot make a new speedtest VanBuren

  21. 1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp, if you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload. 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! 4. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post. 5. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. 6. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked. 7. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. 8. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 30 seconds. 9. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot http://beam.to/spybotsd and Ad Aware http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download to remove any spyware 10. ZoneAlarm firewall has known problems with dropping speed, i suggest to uninstall it and compare speed 11. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ 12. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php 13. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates 14. Download and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/
  22. There is a MTU problem, it might be your router giving you wrong MTU bypass your router and connect direct to modem, make a new tweaktest and post result VanBuren

  25. yea, the AFD tweaks works better as more bandwidth you got and also as higher ping you have to the testserver ( up to a certain point, before you get loss ) this is my settings that works overall best for me VanBuren
