hey McCleud and welcome to the forum thanks alot for that info, i didnt know it was that bad i merged this thread vagarcia74, its easyer if we stick to same thread, then we know what we tested already and so on run a new line quality test, and make sure your pingable, disable firewall or config it to allow echo requests i have a feeling the loss is to your gateway VanBuren

dern my speed sux against rr server, its probl not tweaked VanBuren
-
DSLR will recommend Dr.Tcp and that program dosent tweak upload at all i suggest this site instead www.dslnuts.com and make a post in their forum VanBuren
-
like i said i know nothing about linux tweaking, CA3LE know more, he has set up this server and my speed increased from max 3.7 Mbps to max 9.2 Mbps hehe anyway for windows use 1024x (your upload cap in KB/s) so if you have a 512 Kbps uploadcap, then use 512/8,192 = 62 KB/s 62x 1024 = 63488 VanBuren

i know nothing about tweaking linux, but you might want to check this http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/tcptune/#Linux VanBuren
-
your pretty much maxed out now cos your high latency, you might want to change TcpWindowsize and GlobalMaxTcpWindowsize from 513920 to 256960, if that dosent help, change back VanBuren
-
8192 is the default value for DefaultSendwindow, leaving the field blank is also 8192 even if you dont see it, cos its windows default VanBuren
-
hey smittenkitty and welcome to the forum do you use windows XP SP2? If so download this patch and install it https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 also do you have any tweaks installed? run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! VanBuren
-
i think it would be more stable with SP2 and fully take adventage of AFD tweaks, if you erase that DefautSendWindow and click save to registry your upload should be more stable but probl abit slower too, atleast over higher ping routes VanBuren
-
yea, sometimes there is systemwide issues that need to be fixed, no tweak can fix a overloaded node... you are very incorrect when you claim "A properly set up system (clean) should never need a "tweak" to get normal bw out of a modem." may i ask where you got that information? VanBuren
-
hey dragonfly3377 and welcome to the forum yea post again with new modem, and we will work from that VanBuren

1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp, if you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload. 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! 4. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post. 5. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need. 6. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked. 7. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware. 8. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 30 seconds. 9. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot http://beam.to/spybotsd and Ad Aware http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download to remove any spyware 10. ZoneAlarm firewall has known problems with dropping speed, i suggest to uninstall it and compare speed 11. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ 12. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php 13. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates 14. Download and run CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/

with XP Sp1 the analyzer will read TcpWindowSize only and report that as RWIN, so if you set TcpWindowSize to 64240 and Default ReceiveWindow to 512000, the analyzer will still report 64240 on SP2 its diffrent, then the analyzer will read both DefaultReceivewindow and TcpWindowsize, so if you use a TcpWindowSize of 64240 and a DefaultReceiveWindow of 512000, the analyzer will report the larger value of these 2, and in this case 512000 VanBuren

cool IndyGo18 VanBuren
-
must have been server, unless your using SP2 tweak on a SP1 system VanBuren
-
yea 8192 each step, its in the version 5 folder same as SP1 tweaks
-
try this VanBuren
-
50% loss, thats a big problem, and there is nothing you can do to fix it i suggest you test speed on other sites until they fixed it test speed against these servers and see if you get better speed http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ VanBuren
-
30Kbps download speed instead of 512Kbps as advertised

hey again this node dosent look good 51% packetloss 0/ 100 = 0% | 13 47ms 51/ 100 = 51% 51/ 100 = 51% 67.99.43.234 try this go to start-run-cmd type ping -n 100 67.99.43.234 and hit enter copy the result and paste it here like this Svar fr

yes it should work, but also try the SP2 tweak i have, try em both and see what you like best VanBuren

hey BAF to get a more stable upload try reduce your DefaultSendWindow 63488 that value is kinda high, but it will work for most ppl and thats how i build the files try a lower value, just make sure its multiple with 1024 i would do it in steps of 8192 so try 16384 and after that try 24576 and so on good luck VanBuren
