Need VAN BURDEN'S EXPERT TIP for my RR premium tweak.
VanBuren replied to maxboost7's topic in Make it Faster...
i do not know, why Smart test give you lower speed but you might have a better route to the NY server aswell try this force your NIC to 10 Mbps half duplex ( this depends what your modem support ) If you connect to a router, then always use 100 Mbps full duplex quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK to exit the Connection properties. those settings wont give you much speed also test speed against my PC in Sweden http://www.testmy.net/d_load.php?ta=1&top=VanBuren&pop=1&ni=1 by the way, use the large testfiles and compare, overseas bigger files is more accurate VanBuren

1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp, if you have XP make sure you have SP2 installed! Also download the p2p fix for SP2 here https://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497 If you have a MAC try this program http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12591 2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload. 3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks copy and paste result URL adress in your post! 4. What speed do you have against www.testmy.net and http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ also download this Tracert and Ping program (made by PHP ) https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3341.0;id=1352 and click on autocheck.exe, when its done, just right click and paste all the result in your post.

hey billybob I have to say Cablenut is more safe, i downloaded that tweakmaster thing and when i clicked load windows default settings in that program, it didnt load windows default settings at all... The program loaded settings that mess up your speed instead like Blackhole Detection enabled, and Selective Acks off ???? The program does help for download speed, but it dosent tweak uploadspeed at all unlike cablenut that is the only tweak program that can handle upload tweaking The program basicly works like TCP Optimizer but has a Wizard with 5 options, below you can see the settings that was used As you can see, the program dosent tweak whole TCP stack ( see all emty fields in cablenut ), it only tweak some settings, and that helps for downloadspeed but nothing more... Cablenut is harder to use, but thats why we are here to help, once you see how cablenut works its not hard at all VanBuren

no problem it might be something else then TCP tweaks that need some tuning try changing your NIC duplex mode from auto to half / full and compare speed here is a guide how to change it, test 100 Mbps half duplex and 100 Mbps full duplex quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel.
