  4. Merry Christmas daytrader, and good luck to you with your increased speed. Maybe a few tweaks will make it even faster.
  5. Wow, that is quite a sight. It sure doen't leave a very big viewing window.
  6. Thanks for directing me to the you tube guitar site. I have been viewing some rather amazing videos of guitar playing.
  7. I have been using Firefox for quite some time, and I think it is way better than IE6. I am using version 1.5.0.8. I was getting ready to update to version 2 but I did some checking, and discovered that version 2 had some bugs that would prevent using some extensions. I now find that they have just came out with version 3. I believe I will stick with version 1.5 until I read some really good reports about the newer versions.

I have searched the web site, FAQ's and forums and I still haven't been able to find out what the stars represent below each members name when they post a message. I noticed that I had two stars, and one member with several posts only had one star??
  10. I have tweaked my settings with TCP Optimizer. You might like to give it a try. Here is the URL: http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?t=185367

  12. Hi Roco, I got in touch with my friend and he doesn't recall getting a registration number. He has also deletes his e-mail after every session. I will return to the Grisoft site and try to find a method of contact. Thank you.
  13. A friend was trying to upgrade the AVG free version, (he is on dial up), he wasn't sure about what he was doing. He managed to enroll with the paid edition ($40.00). AVG got their money from his credit card. He can live with this (for two years), however he still has the old free version on his PC. I tried to contact AVG to help him straighten out this problem, but I can't seem to find a way to contact AVG. Does anyone have an 800 number, or an e-mail address that I can use to contact AVG? I have been all over their website and have found no contact info. Is there any way that I can download the new paid version on my PC (I have cable) and transfer it to his PC via usb flash drive?
  14. I am currently using a Motorola SB4100 and I am experiencing real good speeds, however, when I go to purchase a new one, it will be the Motorola SB5120. I have a couple of friends with the SB5120 and they get really good speeds and speed bursts.
  15. Is it possible to run Webroot Spy Sweeper and GhostSurf Platinum (with spyware removal) at the same time, or does one or the other have to be shut off? Thanks for your input.
  16. Since I became a registered member of Testmy.net, I have started receiving e-mails from the University of PhoenixOnline. Is there some sort of connection between your site and the University?
  17. Will the newest version of AVG free install right over my present version and keep my present settings, or should I remove the older version first. When installing a new program I close all windows, disable my firewall (Zone Alarm) and my virus protection. When ever possible, I disconnect my comcast connection. Is this the proper way to get a clean install?
  18. TimPawlak, You are correct about AVG. Apparantly I was mislead by the AVG popup. I went into the AVG site and did some checking. (I should have done that before posting) Please accept my appology. Here is the information I found: AVG Free Edition is the well-known antivirus protection tool. AVG Free is available free of charge to home users for the life of the product. Rapid virus database updates are available for the lifetime of the product, thereby providing the high level of detection capability that millions of users around the world trust to protect their computers. AVG Free is easy to use and will not slow your system down (low system resource requirements). Highlights include automatic update functionality, the AVG Resident Shield, which provides real-time protection as files are opened and programs are run, free Virus Database Updates for the lifetime of the product, and AVG Virus Vault for safe handling of infected files. Version 7.5.4 includes improved virus detection based on better heuristics and NTFS data streams scanning; a smaller installation and update files; and an improved user interface. The newest version is also compatible with Windows Vista.
  19. I just received a notice from AVG free virus program. Starting in January 2007 it will no longer be free. I believe the next choice will be Avast. It can be downloaded from Cnet @ Download.com here is the URL: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3640-2239_4-10602417.html?v=1
  20. I'm enjoying this site more and more. Everyone is helpful and friendly, and I really like the feature of e-mailing me to let me know that I have an answer to a post. Thank you, leoinnj
  21. I was using a Motorola SB3100, my speeds were generally 3 to 4 mb. I changed to a Motorola SB4100, and my speeds have gone to 4 to 6 mb. My question is: If I was to upgrade to a Motorola SB5120 could I expect even better performance? I do know that the SB4100 has a more powerful chip than the SB3100 and the SB3100 is DOCSIS 1.O and the SB4100 is DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 I don't know when Comcast is going to DOCSIS 2.0, if they do, my SB4100 will not be compliant with it. It will work, but it will not acknowledge the faster speeds. Thank you for any input. leoinnj
