  1. just touching base.. hughes test site for using hughes net.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/ddfridd007/HUGHES%20SATELITTE/hughestestsite.jpg it always pegs a little faster here.. all in all still very pleased with it after these past 4 months.. I trade stocks for a living..it's Mr. Reliable, so far.. no cable or DSL on my rural country road..so, am well satisfied..fwiw..

  3. yes..just looked up hughes on the net..they've changed it.. it was originally to 1000/192 Home pro plan..around early December when I got my outfit.. 'up to 200' I guess sounds better than 192.. just uploaded my very first batch of 20 digital pictures of grandson to a local walmart... didn't take very long,,,dial-up would've taken all day..
  4. this place lets you pick out a server close to you.. my upload speed is supposed to be 192..that's what I pay for in my hughesNet plan..but here it tests out much more..
  5. still not too bad..moderate snow coming down..SE TN..
  6. off the cuff test..with QuoteTracker up and running and TriggerNews.com up and running..both minimized.. clear and cold..13
  7. i don't have to stop anything..a little brief pop-up at bottom right hand corner says it's doing it..then fades out after 3~5 seconds..
  8. I hear ya.. I'm nearing 55 and for years and years I avoided 'rich' people like the plague.. mainly because what few I had briefly met they were all 'snooty'.. but if you ever become a genuine friend to some..wow.. they can pull strings for you in the job place, give you a job, or in my case, give me their 'junk'..LOL.. One rich man's junk?, is for sure, a poor man's TREASURE!
  9. one more case in point while I'm on here..I know these well off retired couple..(own a couple of Subway sandwich franchises, etc)..they GAVE ME their 2 year old 57" HDTV Hitachi because SHE decided she didn't want the big as a piano thing and wanted a plasma TV to hang on the wall.. WHATEVER..LOL.. I'll take it!.. sure beats my 25" Phillips I was watching..LOL..
  10. case in point.. my state-of- the- art Dell computer that's 2 years old is already 'out of date' compared to what's out there now..I did bite the bullet and bought a GForce graphics upgrade card..$160..and added 1 gig of ram stick but that's all I'm putting in it for awhile.. next computer I get will be a dual core processor type computer that's 'HOT' right now..much faster..already..
  11. Bottom line is everyday they are improving electronics, modems, phones, all kinds of gadgets... so, I suggest making do with whatever you have for as long as you can stand it.. then get the latest thing on the market..and be content with it for a few years..then, by then, your 2 or 3 year old stuff will be a 'dinosaur'.. wash ,rinse, repeat..
  12. Speed during the heat of the day..primetime stock trading hours are sometimes cut in half..it still all seems very fast to me..no complaints..especially after eight years on dial-up..fwiw..
  13. it's a nikon 3200 coolpix I have had for a couple of years..it takes superb still pictures but has allways had a clicking sound in background..I have a new Canon SD500 7.1pixel that makes superb movies but I think the old Nikon makes better still pictures..I have a 'hobby' picture board if interested.. http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=2899 also I discovered this morning HughesNet (the ol DirectWav) has it's OWN testing site for speed..URL address can be seen in pitcutre in browser..
  14. I'll get back with you..I'm at work..at home trying to make a buck on the stock market
  15. here's a little video..shows modem.. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v188/ddfridd007/MOVIES/?action=view&current=CanonMovietestuploadSatelliteNet002.flv
  16. HN7000S..and home pro plan..1000/192 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/ddfridd007/Dave007/January22007019.jpg
  17. this is disc I use.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v188/ddfridd007/Dave007/HughessetUPdisc001.jpg
  18. Do you have HughesNet?...about every 3 days I re-install or re-run my hughes set-up disc..it seems to help maintain speed more than anything..I pay for the Hughes Net 1000/192 plan..
  19. test 6:30 am EST..Chattanooga, TN..
  20. tdawnaz..no argument there..but the good Lord gave you a brain to think with..and try to make good judgement on things.. sometimes we don't have the TIME to hem-haw around.. we have to take the initiative sometime..to quickly weigh the possibilities...to take the risk..to try and do the right thing.. personally, I'm not too worried about.. Pss.18 [28] For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.
  21. Tdawnaz..you said.."To Light a Candle is to cast a Shadow." hmm..so you'd rather sit in the dark? One lit candle can touch other un-lit candles..creating a better, brighter world, in my opinion. I don't have any political preferences at all but I do remember one quote that's kind of stuck with me.. "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly..." -Robert F. KENNEDY
