  1. So I am fed up with HughesNet and all there BS. I have just sent the email telling them I want to discontinue the service at the end of my billing cycle. Any suggestionson what ISP I should try next? I have heard some good and some bad things about Cellular internet service. I am in Summerville, GA. in the Sticks as some would call it. So I am thinking about doing the Straight Talk Home internet service I get 3-4 bars when I am outside so I am thinking that if I put the receiver box outside where I get 4 bars then I should have no problems with speed. (I Hope) Someone please give me ideas. I have not been able to play my game in a month and a half. I miss my World of Warcraft. And now there is the new Dragonflight expansion out that I cant play at all..... HELP
  2. @GracieAllenI will gladly trade you any of your lowest (12-20 Mbps) speeds. I have Hughesnet satellite here in NW GA and my average speed is around 3-5 Mbps my upload speeds are a dismally constant 700 ish Kbps. Most TV's and PC's wont become unusable til around the single digit download speeds happen ( I mean 1-3 Mbps) I only have 1 PC hardwired to my router. Occasionally I will hook up the Xbox If I am getting particularly good speeds ( which I equate to 10 + Mbps) It takes so much time to load most pages on my PC that I wish for dial up speeds again ( at least they were consistantly bad)
  3. TADA and an FYI this isnt my car. My niece has stuffed animals in her window for instance the passenger side has a Big Black Rooster (insert inappropriate 4 letter word instead of rooster) in the window. lol
  4. Oh and my current router is the one that came with the service from Hughes net. Can I upgrade to a better router without screwing up my contract with Hughes net?
  5. I looked at my router settings, QoS is supported but it is turned off. So if I turn it on, how do I give my PC (which is hardwired) more bandwidth than let's say my Xbox? I only have three things hooked up. (In order of importance) My PC, A Roku streaming TV and an Xbox. I don't live stream from my Xbox so I only use the network for the occasional game download or update. The PC and TV are my main concerns. Unfortunately, I am in Mississippi for work until Sunday. I will be back in Georgia and able to adjust any settings you suggest at that time.

  7. Will Windows firewall slow down my network connection?
  8. I am supposed to be getting 25 Mbps Down and 3 Mbps Up. They told me these would be my minimum speeds. I have only been with HughesNet for a week. I recently had Windstream as well they said I would get Up to 50Mbps down and 12 Mbps up but my average with them was 16 Down and 1.2 Up.
  9. I would be willing to contest your statement sir My avg. Down is 4.6 Mbps and my Up is a dismal 467Kbps. Oh BTW I am in N.W. GA. Right smack in the middle of nothing. Some call it the Butt-crack of the Bible-belt. Anyone else from GA here?
  10. Lets start with the Necessities. I am on HughesNet. I have three devices attached to the system. First is a Roku TV, it is connected through the Wifi on the 5 Ghz channel, and is about 10 feet from the router with only a Drywall wall between it and the router. (it gets less than 1Mbps Down) Second is an Xbox, also connected to the router through the 5 Ghz channel (it gets about 2.2 Mbps down). Third and more important to me then the other two. I have a PC Hardwired to the router with a Cat5e cable (about a 50' run)and on it, I am getting an average of 4.6 Mbps Download speeds and 467Kbps Upload speeds. My question is this, Are there any ways I can raise my speeds on my end? ie.. Configuring the router differently, changing my PC settings somehow. I dont do much on my PC other then try to watch Twitch and play World of Warcraft. Occasionally I will watch YouTube. So Guys (and gals) is there anything I can do to improve my performance?
