  1. There is no spyware in it i checked to. It is a recrutiing tool for the USAA in a way. I tried it yesterday and was impressed it is better than alot of first person shooters that you pay for. Definetly worth the download
  2. Ok thanks guys. I was trying to figure out a way to do it just using the hub, but i have some spare nics around so i will try the bridge. I found this on my journeys, looks really good. Think i might set it up on the firewall box. http://www.smoothwall.org/
  3. I have 2 computers connected to a hub. One is only being used for a program similar to folding at home. I would like to make that computer into a hardware firewall+proxy. But as of right now i cannot figure out how to do this and no luck finding anything on the net. I have found how to do it if i turn the 1 box into a linux box but can't do that because it is my GF's computer and even though she never uses it she would be pissed if i put linux on there My computer is running XP Pro and hers XP Home. Any help on this would be appreciated
  4. Its all good, i am posting the way i do things, if i hit F8 when it posts it won't boot into safe mode, anytime after that its good though yah. I think i was trying to oversimplify things..i do that sometimes and make harder than it is. My GF syays that to me all the time
  5. If you boot into it with networking enabled, at least for me. Otherwise i have never been able to get online. Guess i should have included that. You can get on the net in normal safe mode php?
  6. If you don't have a virus scanner on your computer and you boot in to safe mode you won't be able to access the internet because all drivers are disabled so if thats the case you will have to either download a free anti virus or scan again online. You can try this online scan, it is usually able to delete the virus. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Or download free AV program from http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html and than do the scan in safe mode
  7. The virus scan was unable to delete it? If so boot into safe mode (F8 before you get to windows screen, if you watch you will see when to hit it). Scan and in safe mode it should be able to stomp the little critter, if not post back and we will figure out something else
  8. I will check it out thanks Glad you like it, i am getting a beetr server today with alot more bandwidth and making some more playlist. Will post addy for new server when its up..will leave this 1 up until than
  9. I see a few people connected right now..might have caught it while i was changin some stuff...also you need to use winamp i believe
  10. Thanks:) I setup a shoutcast server feel free to listen, still not sure if people can connect or not http://24.71.9.95:8000/listen.pls
  11. I would like to setup a kinda private radio station from my home computer. So friends can listen to what i have playing, i have found a few like icecast but i would like it to work with windows media player. I am running windows xp. 1 that works with IRC would be cool to
  12. You can recover data from a format, but the programs are pricey and the trials usually only tell you what can be recovered but won't recover it until you purchase the program.
  13. I run a program called Find A Drug it is similar to the project Folding@home that testmy.net runs. I need a batch file for the program so it auto configures the install. So when i send the program to people i know that aren't good with computers all they have to do is install and it is already configured properly. I e-mailed FAD support about it and here is what they said: My GF just had twins and i don't have the time to learn how to do this myself so if somebody could help me out that would be great You can download FAD here http://www.find-a-drug.org.uk/frame.html
  14. The 1 i posted is easy to use..just find the clean registry button and click. It will ask how you want to clean it "Agressive or "normal" i always use aggresive and have had no problems. Why do they make it such a pain...i wish i knew. Why so many people use Nortons i have no idea. The amount of xtra money they must have to spend for support and making new installers must be a fair bit. If you end up needing any of those XP files that i talked about just PM me your e-mail and i can send them to you
  15. Just goes to show how great their product is
  16. Norton support will tell you to uninstall in control panel. Than when stuff starts going wrong as it usually does with a Norton Uninstall they will say it is because of other programs. This is the norm with Norton support. No matter what unless you are very lucky you are going to have some problems after. But you can try support maybe you will get lucky
  17. Yep control panel will usually do it. I know there are a few Norton Uninstallers out there because it is such a apin in the ass. If you google for norton uninstaller you will see them. I would but not ime right now You should also be ready to expand some files from your XP disk after you uninstall it (if you are running XP). When i uninstalled it, it deleted my C:WindowsSystem32Autoexec.nt
  18. Take it easy on the caps will ya
  19. The link above you posted rotruda has a nasty popup, at least for me if you use FF you might not get it. Soon as i followed the link i got a "Tribal Fusion"Popup. Check for spyware after visiting that site. You need to expand your AUTOEXEC.NT file off your XP
  20. Test at the following links to see if your firewall is configured properly https://image.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm The second one you have to DL a file, it is safe. De-install of course after your done
  21. Agnitum Oupost here. Out of the 3 it is the only 1 that passed every leak test i threw at it. On any of them you have to do some work setting them up to make them work well. Just default settings is a joke, on all 3.
  22. Your welcome, yeah i would never buy a DEll either. You can build 1 that is much faster for the same price. Dell's are notorious for being incompatible with alot of different hardware. So upgrading can be a big pain in the ass
  23. Ok cool, yeah a fragged drive will do that forsure
  24. Find out what motherboard you have and we will see if you can. Most boards now have temp probes. How bout the scanning for spyware viruses, and how many processes you have running?? Lots of questions i know but they are needed to narrow things down to the problem
