  1. I didnt know what else to call it, and i hope it caught ur attention  :haha:

I have a problem, this game i play is located in California, and in order for me to connect to that server i have to go through ATDN's routers. AOL owns those, so as you may know, something is wrong...

At certain times of the day the ping becomes upbearable and when i do a tracert

    13 117 ms 117 ms 124 ms so1-1-0-10G.scr1.LAX1.gblx.net [67.17.95.122]

that one jumps up alot while the next one is around 90MS

    C:>ping so1-1-0-10g.scr1.lax1.gblx.net -t

Pinging so1-1-0-10g.scr1.lax1.gblx.net [67.17.95.122] with 32 bytes of data:

that router is very unstable and i cant even play my game with these constant disconnections from it and the lag.

Now, I would like to find a way to go past that router and possibly use another one. Is this only something my ISP can change or can i change it? Ive already tried to change DNS servers, but no luck.

I would really appreciate some help here. Oh and btw, Im not the only one who has problems with this, its alot of others who use ATDN's routers to connect to the server. Other users which dont use them, they are fine. Its starting to get annoying.

    Thanks,

    Marcin

  3. What is this exactly?

Is it possible to use 2 ISP's with this?

How about 1 wireless, and 1 ethernet?

Ive tried to bridge a wireless and ethernet connection, but i get a cable is plugged out icon, but my wireless and ethernet connections are both on.By default it uses my etheret one.

  4. Easiest and cheapest way to get ringtones on your phone.

Okay, first of all, i'd like to say that if you dont find this morally correct (you wanna pay for your songs) then this isnt the way for you.

    METHOD #1:

Ive tested this with 2 phones, and both worked. I used the motorola v180 and the Razr v3.

    - Getting the right phone

First off you need to make sure you have a usb compatible phone. I use the motorolla razr, and it has a USB port on the side, which is also the charging port. Its a mini usb wire which the end you connect to the device is very small. Usually, camera's come with it. Anyway, just make sure u have the port on your phone. I believe all motorola phones are USB compatible

    - Getting it set-up

Basically all you need is to connect the USB wire to your phone. Then look for a program which lets you connect your phone to your pc. I use MOBILedit! (just google it). When you install the program (im gonna use MOBILedit!) setup your device and the files should be in your audio folder.

    - Getting the ringtones

Best place (i think) to get ringtones is www.nextpimp.com - they might not be the best quality but they are free. Once you get the right ringtone, download it, and drag+drop it into your audio folder and it should copy automatically.

An alternate way of getting ringtones would be using MP3 editing software to edit and save the part of the song you want for a ringtone, and draggin+dropping that. I havent used it yet, so i cant tell you how good/bad it will work out.

    METHOD #2

I am well aware that many phones arent USB compatible, so method #1 doesnt work for all. This method works for every phone which is internet compatible. If you have to pay for internet, this might cost you a little, but its like 30 cents per ringtone for me... its less than the $3 other companies charge

    - Getting it setup

You will use your computer as a webserver and connect to it using your phone. First you need abyss webserver which u can get at http://www.aprelium.com/

Set that up, and put the ringtone you want in your htdocs folder, naming it something simple such as 1.wav, ect.

Now go to http://whatismyip.com , open up your phone's web browser and type that in for the address. If you have a ringtone named 1.wav in your htdocs folder, puy your ip (lets say my ip is 123.456.78.90, i would put http://123.456.78.90/1.wav). If it doesnt work, read the aprelium website on how to change the port of the webserver, as your ISP might be blocking it. And dont put full songs (files 3mb big), that will cost you alot to transfer :).

  5. What is L1 cache, can a pc run without it, and can you enable/disable it willingly?

    What about L2 cache?

My older pc seems broken, and the windows 95 diagnostic thing is telling me L1 cache is disabled.

  6. Okay Ill try that after I install + run antivirus. Im using diagnostic or whatever you call it startup, and so far its running like 10 times faster, but still takes like 10 min to open anything

  7. Yes I purchased it, but im sure the warranty is over by now, and plus the type of support they give over the phone you can expect a monkey to explain it better

  8. Okay im trying to reinstall Mcaffe antivirus to scan for viruses. Looks like the only thing i can do now anyway. My system restore files are all gone... i really suspect a virus now. Im guessing nobody has an answer for my drive problems. Thanks anyways :).

  9. Okay today i wanted to format my hard drive and reinstall windows:

I put in the windows CD, reboot my PC, it doesnt automatically detect it. I open up windows, go to my computer, there is in fact a CD drive there, but its a DVD/Cd drive, and its not what I use, or even have. I went to Daemon tools, disabled in control panel. Guess what? It finds that same CD/Dvd drive again. Just to make things even clearer, I do not have a DVD drive, I have a CD drive, and the manufacturer name is totally different that what its supposed to be. I inserted an old CD drive in my free slot (now i have 2) but its not detecting it. They both open/close and when you put in a CD it spins, but it doesnt open. I connected my external cd drive, and it works.

I put in my windows CD, thinking i could reinstall windows using it and the problems will go away. It installs another copy (the installation files) and i reboot my pc, and get a OS secection window. I select the new installation one. It tells me that I have no CD drive. Apparently, windows doesnt read USB devices before installing it. I tried to install the cd driver with a floppy, it worked before (about 30 min prior to the point im at now), but now it doesnt

Now here is the funniest part. I did a system restore, and my boot.ini file is crapped up. It starts loading windows 2000, takes about 10 minutes to get to windows xp screen, and im finished typing this while it just loaded my desktop.

So what do i do now?

    - I made sure the wires that connect to the cd drive's are tightly secure

    - The CD drives both open and close meaning the power cables are working atleast

    - Im pretty sure that the cd drives themselves arent broken

    - The windows cd im using is working

What im gonna do meanwhile somebody answers

    - try to turn on windows and fix the boot.ini file

    - Get my friends hard drive, plug it in, and try to boot from there

    - get new wires
