  1. ALL the Verizon routers have NAT, BUT I'm assuming you mean the new Westell Versalink (4 port wired router + wireless + DSL modem all in one). That has the NAT firewall, PLUS the software firewall in it, which causes problems since its ultra-buggy (there are TONS of posts on dslreports about this)
  2. My speed always shows up as 2.6-2.8Mbps on the 3M test, but the 12M test I get: :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 3107 Kbps about 3.1 Mbps (tested with 12160 KB) Download Speed is:: 379 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 55 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.7 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=PKJ4JCONQ
  3. OK, Ive noticed TONS of you have those crappy stardock things, etc. Those waste RAM, and slow down the system... INSTEAD, just get: http://fishnet.no-ip.org:81/downloads/UXTheme%20Multi-Patcher%20(Neowin%20Edition)%202.5.1.exe Its only 460KB. Once you run it, it patches the theme-related file in Windows that is used to determine if its a Microsoft theme, or a non-Microsoft theme. This DOES cause a Windows File Protection error when you do this, but its only the one time. Once this is done, you can use any non-standard theme in Windows, without needing to waste tons of RAM with third party programs, its all done in Windows as if you were using a standard theme. Enjoy!
  4. I personally think that my 3.0 / 768 is kinda good for 29$ lol, especially since AOL 56K is like 24$
  5. I know where to get pics of my ISP tearing up waiter pipes and sewers laying fiber haha The price is gonna be awesome... Up to 5 Mbps/2 Mbps - $39.95 Up to 15 Mbps/2 Mbps - $49.95 Up to 30 Mbps/5 Mbps - $199.95 If you have a qualifying Verizon phone package like Verizon Freedom (that I have) you'll get $5 off that price... http://www22.verizon.com/FiosForHome/channels/Fios/HighSpeedInternetForHome.asp?promotion_code=&variant=
  6. Once you get it uninstalled, get this http://fishnet.no-ip.org:81/downloads/UXTheme%20Multi-Patcher%20(Neowin%20Edition)%202.5.1.exe Run the thing, youll get a Windows File Protection error, just ignore the thing it says. Then you can install themes from www.themexp.org without any of those horrible 3rd party things that are spywarez.
  7. That connections actually fast for Australia... So many people I know around there think that 256K / 64K / 2 gigs a month is a fast connection, I wouldnt know what to do on that lol
  8. Nothing like 3000 / 768 DSL for only 29 bucks! :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2853 Kbps about 2.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB) Download Speed is:: 348 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line:: 51 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.94 second(s) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=L4JAEM00H :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is: 490 Kbps about 0.5 Mbps (tested with 579 KB) Upload Speed is: 60 KB/s Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/ Bottom Line: 9 times faster than 56K you can upload 1MB in 17.07 second(s) Validation Link :: https://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=Y7GOYY2TO Why do I always get HORRIBLE upload results on this site?
  9. Yeah... I hate those theme programs, so I use the ux_theme hack that lets you use non-standard windows themes without running extra programs...
  10. Someone from my site is on SBC, hes 1.5 / 256K.
  11. Halo 2 was incredibly dissapointing.. only about 7 hours of gameplay, and the *WORST* ending EVER. It wouldnt have been THAT hard for them to make one last level where your on earth, but no, they decided to make a THIRD game out of that.. Well, here comes another 2 years of "HALO III! HALO III!" Then they will extend the wait another 2 years and Ill laugh my ass off.
  12. Ive been using Firefox ever since it was Firebird .7!
  13. Cox has a monthly bandwidth limit of like 30 gigs down and 7 gigs up... and like 2 a day... Thats what I have against them... Internet should always be unlimited if you pay for 'unlimited'. I like to use my whole 3.0 / 768K to its fullest with Verizon, and know that I wont get a letter saying I used 160 gigs of bandwidth and Im abusing the network.
