ALL the Verizon routers have NAT, BUT I'm assuming you mean the new Westell Versalink (4 port wired router + wireless + DSL modem all in one). That has the NAT firewall, PLUS the software firewall in it, which causes problems since its ultra-buggy (there are TONS of posts on dslreports about this)

My speed always shows up as 2.6-2.8Mbps on the 3M test, but the 12M test I get: :::.. OK, Ive noticed TONS of you have those crappy stardock things, etc. Those waste RAM, and slow down the system... INSTEAD, just get: http://fishnet.no-ip.org:81/downloads/UXTheme%20Multi-Patcher%20(Neowin%20Edition)%202.5.1.exe Its only 460KB. Once you run it, it patches the theme-related file in Windows that is used to determine if its a Microsoft theme, or a non-Microsoft theme. This DOES cause a Windows File Protection error when you do this, but its only the one time. Once this is done, you can use any non-standard theme in Windows, without needing to waste tons of RAM with third party programs, its all done in Windows as if you were using a standard theme. Enjoy!

That connections actually fast for Australia... So many people I know around there think that 256K / 64K / 2 gigs a month is a fast connection, I wouldnt know what to do on that lol

Cox has a monthly bandwidth limit of like 30 gigs down and 7 gigs up... and like 2 a day... Thats what I have against them... Internet should always be unlimited if you pay for 'unlimited'. I like to use my whole 3.0 / 768K to its fullest with Verizon, and know that I wont get a letter saying I used 160 gigs of bandwidth and Im abusing the network.

Ive heard of OOL doing that to people who use too much bandwidth... Call and complain, and possibly get a new ISP if you use alot of bandwidth,

Tech support said to keep old Westy (as I call it)... Since they never even sent me the thing to send the 2200 back, he said to just keep both, and if I get a letter from them saying I HAVE to send one back, call and say they can have the Versalink... And if they throw the charge on the phone bill he said to just call and they'll take that off right away so they dont lose customers. Although the Versalink is a good idea, they should really have tested it more before they put it out to the public... Threfore I am going witth the tried and old 2200 that I know works fine.

This thing is fucking BULLSHIT. It keeps restarting itself every few fucking hours. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH VERIZON GIVING OUT BAD MODEMS... IM CALLING RIGHT NOW AND TELLING THEM THAT IM SENDING BACK THE VERSALINK AND KEEPING MY GOOD OLD WESTELL 2200! Just now, IRC disconnects and all my IM services go down, then Windows says "A network cable is unplugged"... I run to my modem to see whats going on, the power light is red and its flashing DSL, and all the ethernet lights are off... then they turn on! WHAT THE FUCK! I will *NOT* use a modem that cant stay online for weeks on end like old westy. NOONE let Verizon screw them with this horrible Versalink! Before the Versalink, I could have my modem and router connected for MONTHS on end without problems... MONTHS, then I get the Versalink and it disconnects twice in less than 24 hours. Holy shit Im mad at Verizon... They REALLY think Im sending my OLD modem back? Theyre getting the Versalink back!

Well, your definately in the area to get it... I mean, if Im all the way in south Jersey getting it, then why wouldnt you be able to. The first rep said something like "New Jersey isnt getting that for another two weeks" or something, so I called back a few hours later and the person knew EXACTLY what I was talking about after I mentioned dslreports.com I said something like "Over on dslreports.com alot of people keep saying theyre getting..." and they say "...3mbit DSL... you want the NY Metro plan" and set it up for me.

If your getting 2.5 your fine... Your NEVER going to get dead on the connection you order... you always loose some speed. Im paying for 3.0 and have never seen it pass 2.8Mbps
