  1. I live in Northern VA. The 5/2 service is 41.99 less a bundled discount, the exact discount I'm not sure at the moment. For the 15/2, I was paying 56.99 - 13.78, which is about 43. So overall, I guess your pricing is about 8 less. Where do you live? However, the 15/2 was just not worth it for me since at peak times, I was getting about 500 - 1000 Kbps and was having problems connecting via VPN into my office. I think they have too many users here in No. VA.
  2. Thanks! I had the 15/2 for over a year and everything was fine until recently (3-4 weeks) when these problems persisted. Cox never could resolve it, and I got fed up with it. The 5/2 service costs $41.99 but I get a bundled savings discount (not quite sure what that is). The price for 15/2 was $56.99 less a bundled savings of $13.78.

I've been monitoring like a hawk and it seems I'm getting the promised 5 down, 2 up.

  5. I believe IE7 has a box that you can check to clear out temp files as the browser closes in Internet Options/Advanced tab. Also, I believe earthlink offers a free toolbar that can do this (but I may be wrong on this).

  7. When I had Direcway, I used a D-LINK DI-514 with the modem connected to a LAN (not the WAN) port, with DHCP disabled on the router. It worked fine with the DW6000 and I consistently got 1 Mbps down if other networked computers were not in use. Never had any issue with the router. It was always something at Direcway's end that was the problem.

  11. I tried 10/100 Auto, 100, and 10 separately and these did not help.
  12. All I have are CAT5 or CAT5e cables - both give the same result. The other remote computers are also at about 5.5 Mbps.

  14. Yes, Norton. But I get over 16 Mbps connected directly to the modem even with Norton enabled. DO you think I need a new router? Should I get the 54g? Would that do the trick for my purposes (15 Mbps/2Mbps)? Thanks for your help.
  15. 10/100 Mbps Auto. Yes, I updated the firmware last night from the dlink website.
  16. I tried running it with only one computer connected to the router (disconnected the other LAN cables from the router) and the modem connected to the WAN port. But it was still only about 5.5 Mbps. Again, I tried connecting directly to the modem, and it was over 16 Mbps. It's definitely something with the router.
  17. I have the Cox 15Mbps/2Mbs service on a network of 3 computers connected by a DI-514 wireless router (wireless disabled) and Netgear XE102 ethernet bridges.
  18. I live in Fairfax County in a 5-year old subdivision, and I've been trying to get Cox to lay down the cables to my home ever since.
  19. I get these numbers pretty consistently on XP Home (with Windows Firewall turned on) using DW6000 on a 5-year old computer after running LCCU and TCP optimizer ONCE. I also have Norton Antivirus and update/run Spywareblaster, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot (all free downloads) weekly. You should be able to duplicate or exceed these numbers. Otherwise, it seems to me that something in your setup isn't right. :::.. 20. A while back, Direcway had offered Turbo Mozilla browser on their "Downloads" or "Beta Software" section. I think this allowed faster browsing on HTTPS sites. I checked again, but it's not there anymore.
  21. My problem was finally resolved after hours on the phone (mostly on hold) with advanced support. They put me on a different transponder and had me register again as an installer. This worked. They couldn't really explain to my satisfaction why this problem started after 1 and a half years of trouble-free operation. The guy mumbled something about the fact that a trasnponder change may be necessary from time to time. Weird. (I can't wait till Verizon comes up with DSL in my neighborhood. I think that the fact that I live only 15 miles from the nation's capital and still can't get DSL or cable is obscene.) :::..
