mrcleanshaven Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Great Forum: Am a DW7000 user (multiple units .74 consumer/pro & .98 system) all pointed to IA8. Am new to the site and wondering if anyone has a set of tweaks for cablenut specifically for the 7000 pointed to IA8? Testing .98 today and see: :::.. php Posted February 1, 2006 CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 no... he's Direcway... I won't give his IP for security purposes... ps... the 223.57 is the last 2 octets, not the first 2...
mrcleanshaven Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Appreciate the observation fikester. What exactly does that mean to me as a user? BTW to my knowledge it is a DirecWay system, according to software running on modem (ver 5.0.1.29) thanks for insight
mrcleanshaven Posted February 1, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 1, 2006 Hi php, you seem to be in the know, what can you tell me about the system which I can manipulate to increase/optimize to give predictable ul/dl spds? thanks ps, did read dbirdman stuff and used file for cablenut but seems his system was a 6000? php Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 There isn't much you can do to get predictable speeds... it's almost guaranteed that your speed will be worse in the evenings than mornings due to heavy usage. As for the difference between the 6000 and 7000, the tweaks should work about the same on both...

mrcleanshaven Posted February 2, 2006 Author CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 do you mean the .98 system? or the .74. I am unclear as to what the verbage 'self-hosted' is referring to in your post.
Bird Fan Posted February 2, 2006 CID Share Posted February 2, 2006 do you mean the .98 system? or the .74. I am unclear as to what the verbage 'self-hosted' is referring to in your post. He means a system that doens't have any software installed on the computer: 6000 and 7000 models. The 4000 was very, very tweakable because there was Dway software installed on the computer, but you can't do much anymore. You should just try to "tweak" your dish for the best signal and cross-pol... Then you'll probably be about as consistent as you'll get. Post a speed test tomorrow at 6 AM if you can.
