jim2006 Posted December 24, 2004 CID Share Posted December 24, 2004 I was wondering when someone is downloading something from you that would be using your upload I know but my question is if someone is using all your upload will it affect your download? MICROWAVE Posted December 25, 2004 CID Share Posted December 25, 2004 Yes you only have a certain amount of bandwidth and it doesn't matter up or down the amount being used takes away from the overall total amount.Just like if you are using your desktop off line, you only have a certain amount of resources available to you at any given time. The more things you have open and are using the slower you P.C. will be at that particular time.... Microwave
Marcin541 Posted December 25, 2004 CID Share Posted December 25, 2004 I know with DSL, if I turn on WinMX or something and people download from me at 90kbps then my download seems alot slower (well not download, but browsing)
DJVageli Posted December 25, 2004 CID Share Posted December 25, 2004 Yup I have Winmx on right now lol, and at a point when they were using all of my upload, my browsing would get very slow, and my brothers XBox live connection will become tremendously horrible. Now I use MXMonitor for Winmx and it keeps the upload at a very low level. So to answer your question jim, if someones using all your upload then u will have slower browsing and a slower download(sometimes)
Marcin541 Posted December 25, 2004 CID Share Posted December 25, 2004 Yea in WinMX there are settings which can limit your upload. I set it to 60kbps when I wanna browse, or turn it off lol. Over 5 hours i uploaded 1.5Gigs... lol
xs1 Posted December 25, 2004 CID Share Posted December 25, 2004 When you have a large upload, your download suffers massively, because your download also needs some of your upload speed to survive. And if someone is hogging all of it your download speed starts to give up.
