if you want to get a new custom gaming rig but not build it yourself, then try one of these sites..

http://buyxg.com

http://cyberpowerpc.com

http://ibuypower.com

buyxg is probably the cheapest.. im getting ready to order a computer for about 1160$ and its gonna be sick

amd 3800+ x2

Gigabyte pro sli mobo

Antec TP-II 550w psu

7600 GT pcie video card

X-Navigator Case

1gb corsair ram

200 gig sata hdd

Dvdr/rw + combo drive

Another combo drive

+ keyboard speakers mouse etc

each site offers configurators to build your own PC, whether it being AMD based or Intel based.. and the prices can be quite low as a good gaming pc can be bought for under 700$ there.

Between these two graphics cards if you wan't 256MB:

Radeon X1800XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card

Geforce 7900GT CO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

If your graphics card is AGP, get this:

Geforce 7800GS CO Superclock 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X Video Card

Between these if you want 512MB of DDR3:

Radeon X1800XT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card

Radeon X1900XTX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card

Geforce 7900GTX Superclocked 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card

This is what I gathered for you from the limited info provided.

I highly suggest that you get a Radeon X1800XT 512MB for the video card. For that price, you get a steal. It's highly overclockable and is faster than the 7900GT while it's OC'd.

I would also go with OCZ or Corsair XMS for my gaming memory.

damn.. nice post!

Thxz Swimmer  :D I just hope that it helps x_6985381 in making good choices.

I returned my 7800GS back to Best Buy (wasn't powerful enough) just so I can order an X1800XT 512MB along with a socket 754 PCI Express motherboard from Newegg. Gonna throw my Zalman VF700CU (which I couldn't use with the 7800GS) on it and call it a day. :)

Can someone tell me if any of the current graphics cards are DX10 ready? I'm thinking it will be the Radeon X2000 series (R600 core)/nVidia 8000 series (G80 core) scheduled for this fall that are the chosen ones.

Yes, those are the cards/cores.. API is going to be released around the same time as Vista.. so I doubt that any current cards are going to support DX 10

  • 2 weeks later...

X_6985381,go with the socket 939/AMD Athlon 64/AthlonX2 /Athlon FX  Series

Processor.Right now for gaming,they can't be beat.the best M/B available(right now)

is the Asus A8N32-SLI Premium or Deluxe(2 x16 slots dedicated for video). That

and 2GB Corsair XMS PC3500 memory.Make sure you have a kick a** power supply

to handle all that load(PC Power & Cooling Turbo Cool 800 or 1000 watt).

DoomLord
