tomunc Posted December 23, 2013 CID Share Posted December 23, 2013 Actually, I get inconsistent results with TWC during non-peak hours, however fortunately barely under 25 Mbps d/l speed for my 50/5 account. Occasionally this can interfere somewhat with my streaming, also however this is not too often. Especially if you're connected wirelessly, as I am, your router plays a big part. Whenever I test low I reboot my router and I'm usually good...back to norm.

John Tranter Posted November 17, 2014 CID Share Posted November 17, 2014 New to this site but hope someone might have some advice on how to out of a bad ISP. Recently signed with HughsNet because out in the country no one else covers the area. My average download speed is 2 to 3.8 Mbps. Both the telephone "tech" folks say if I'm getting online there is nothing wrong. Had a rep come out yesterday and he saw the slow speed and basically said the same thing as the home office: If you are getting online there is nothing they can do. Am I stuck with this pitiful service for two years?
nanobot Posted November 17, 2014 CID Share Posted November 17, 2014 Where are you at? We used to have Hughes Net at my dad's place but we ditched it because another ISP had recently shown up. (We didn't get out of the contract, but we did get service with the new ISP.) I'd check that there aren't any small, local providers first. If there are, look into getting one of them and then start with the BBB about Hughes. And check if you get 3G/4G in your area. I think Tommie Gorman uses EVDO for his internet, and he seems satisfied with it. Thanks, EBrown Georgeen

HenryN Posted December 14, 2014 CID Share Posted December 14, 2014 Start another topic about this, we'll try to help. For some reason the facebook login was not working so I had to create another account cause I don't know my user name directly. So now I have this account from Google Im logged under. We have fixed the problem. The issue was that I did not everything Gigabit ready. The NIC being used was a 10/100 and probably cheap. So after upgrading my computer with a 10/100/1000 gigabit nic I now get far better speeds, exactly what I pay for. I am so relieved. I will post the up and down again.
