Yeah, 2Mb UL would be nice...but it's gonna be hard to get that....I had 1.9 a few times....never 2 though....

I was having all sorts of problems recently with the 15/2 service (greatly fluctuating speeds with DL approaching dialup speeds at peak hours), so I downgraded yesterday to 5/2, and the 5/2 seems much more stable.  I've been monitoring like a hawk and it seems I'm getting the promised 5 down, 2 up.

Sometimes when they shove too much through too small of a whole it won't be stable. So 5/2 is probably the best you can run on the equipment they have to your house right now. And you save the extra $$ in the meantime.  :grin2:

Just my thoughts!

Nice speeds by the way. I am jealous.

What do you pay by the way?

Thanks!  I had the 15/2 for over a year and everything was fine until recently (3-4 weeks) when these problems persisted.  Cox never could resolve it, and I got fed up with it.  The 5/2 service costs $41.99 but I get a bundled savings discount (not quite sure what that is).  The price for 15/2 was $56.99 less a bundled savings of $13.78.

Just out of curiosity...what part of the country do you live in? I pay $49.99 for the 15/2 package (I have bundled services as well, but that's internet portion of it), but I  was thinking that for 8 bucks a month and a difference of 10 Mb....one of us is getting shafted....not sure who it is though....

I live in Northern VA.  The 5/2 service is 41.99 less a bundled discount, the exact discount I'm not sure at the moment.  For the 15/2, I was paying 56.99 - 13.78, which is about 43.  So overall, I guess your pricing is about 8 less.  Where do you live?  However, the 15/2 was just not worth it for me since at peak times, I was getting about 500 - 1000 Kbps and was having problems connecting via VPN into my office.  I think they have too many users here in No. VA.

I live in upper CT, and I can spit on Bradley Int'l Airport. I think this actually helps me out. My bundled discount is about $10, I have DVR plus HBO OD, and my phone. All 3 cost me about $140/mo (provided my woman's 8 y/o doesn't go hog wild with ordering new releases). I haven't had any problems to speak of yet. and for the price - I think it's worth it. I've had DSL and unless you live next to the server...forget about speed (16,000 ft seems quite limiting). Too bad you can't experience the joy of 15/2...it's the only way to go...unless you have the money for a T1 or better.
