porsche6714 Posted September 10, 2006 CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 Any particular reason why you want an AMD build up? If it were me i would go with one of the new intel core 2 duo processors. They blow any AMD processor out of the water. Also what is your budget?

Looks good to me.. i like what disturbed posted... I would go with an antec ps.. just cause that is what I have always used...

I would also go with crucial ram over ocz
disturbed Posted September 10, 2006 CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 some reasons reason why i recommend ocz ram and ocz power supplies is because i have used both and i couldnt be happier....they have one of the highest standards out there and thus produce very high quality components..... also, dfi motherboards are known not to work very well with certain ram/power supplies - dfi motherboards such as this one, require very steady/stable power to be provided - and some power supplies do this very poorly.... if in doubt, visit dfi-street.com and the recommendations section to make sure that a component you are buying is compatible with their products

tommie gorman Posted September 10, 2006 CID Share Posted September 10, 2006 I like AMD and crucial. They still make for a damned fine comp. Even if there are new kids on the block.
porsche6714 Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 Cause AMD is discontinuing the Athlons on 939.. So everything is really cheap Ok After looking on newegg.com for a quick price compare i found that a AMD X2 4800 will cost you about $291http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103544 Now a core 2 duo e6400 will cost you only $229 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115004 And if you want you can go even cheaper with an e6300 for $185 Now as you can see by a benchmark shown here http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.html?modelx=33&model1=433&model2=476&chart=171 The core 2 duo processors out perform the AMD by far. Just look for the red bars for the 2 processors we are looking at here Just my 2 cents

porsche6714 Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 Yea thats why it would be pretty smart to build a custom pc around a core 2 duo than a AMD processor. I just finished up a core 2 build of my own. E6600 overclocked with 2gb of corsair, asus deluxe motherboard, and x1900 video card. I decided to go with a cheaper video card and wait for the new DirectX 10 ones. Good Luck
Swimmer Posted September 12, 2006 CID Share Posted September 12, 2006 hmm.. that is pretty interesting.. i guess the 4800 prices have yet to fall..
porsche6714 Posted September 12, 2006 CID Share Posted September 12, 2006 They did fall. A X2 4800 ran for more than $500 not too long ago.

Spook63 Posted September 13, 2006 CID Share Posted September 13, 2006 im with you, can't go wrong with a antec power supply. Yea, i used to love Antec. Have an Antec case and 2 Antec PSU's, but one died on me last month and it was just over a year old = out of warranty. The -5 V SB was causing the PC to keep rebooting continuously. I picked up a 650W BFG Tech PSU, which has a lifetime warranty with 24/7 tech support. It also has a turbo fan button on the back for when I do some heavy BF2 gaming nights. http://www.bfgtech.com/power_supply_650W.html Picked mine up from Newegg for $112. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817702003
