ratchet Posted December 25, 2006 CID Share Posted December 25, 2006 I know this is a stupid question, however, what is your website for/about? Merry Christmas!
Ryan314 Posted December 25, 2006 CID Share Posted December 25, 2006 His website is an uploading site.. you can upload your files to store them, or share them with friends. Very useful.
mogramjo Posted December 25, 2006 CID Share Posted December 25, 2006 Good onya Dlewis23 for blocking the baddies! I personally have a 'twinge' of guilt when I do your wonderful Scottsdale mirror download test, if I opt for ANYthing bigger than 1MB I get the: "Sorry, your score of 78232 Kbps is over TestMy.net's max of 60000 Kbps. It is very doubtful your connection is faster than 60000 Kbps... Please RETEST" (with 3.1MB) (I'm never able to use the 'upload' from that mirror either. I wind up at a 'not found' page eventually.) Uncached :smiley6600:download speeds from there (for me, also in Scottsdale) are always at least 23MB on my 12/1 Cox cable connection. I'm *not complaining!!! But, I felt a 'twinge' when you started the 'Damned Hacker' thread...because it occured to me that your server was 'feeling stressed out' due to my few attempts at a bigger than 1MB file download. I know, it's not related but...still. Your dlewis23-2 mirror must be on my nearest corner, eh? No worries and glad you've got it covered!! Have a great Christmas/New Year and thanks for all you do!! mogramjo Posted December 25, 2006 CID Share Posted December 25, 2006 Ya Tim, but it's NOT cached...if that's what you're saying, nor do I pay for 100MB tier...I pay for 12/1 and it's *only* on the dlews23-2 download mirror that I get in the neighborhood of 23MB (no point in telling you that it was in the 50'sMB-wise BEFORE I got the 12/1 with Cox...again, NOT cached. I didn't mean to shatter anyone's illusions re: anything Well, i hear cox is now offering powerboost.. so im guesing thats what your connection is. Other than that, i dont believe a 12/1 is reaching 31450 Kbps edit: also try testing with a bigger file, such as the 12meg test etc.
mogramjo Posted December 26, 2006 CID Share Posted December 26, 2006 My current understanding that we on Cox in Arizona don't yet have the 'PowerBoost' up...Virginia? yes...here? no.
mogramjo Posted December 26, 2006 CID Share Posted December 26, 2006 P.S. Ryan...I guess you didn't see what I get for as a message if I try dlewis23-2 with ANYthing larger than 1MB: "Sorry, your score of 78232 Kbps is over testmy.net's max of 60000 Kbps. It is very doubtful your connection is faster than 60000 Kbps... Please RETEST" (that's trying with the 3.1MB.I've got proximity in this case. However...no evidence of any 'PowerBoose', certainly no 'cached' results, nor anything BUT close proximity can explain it. The standard dowload test gives me 'expected' results very near my 12/1 Premier tier. I really don't understand why this is difficult to believe. Oh well...Obviously it's not of much use, normally to be so 'fast' so locally. But...it's a fact.
tommie gorman Posted December 26, 2006 CID Share Posted December 26, 2006 OK Ryan, I have a question for you. When I test with too small a file it directly takes me to a larger file automatically. Why does it not do this on mogramjo also? Just curious if you knew.
mogramjo Posted December 26, 2006 CID Share Posted December 26, 2006 That would be the case with the 'regular server 1-2' tests Tommie...this is the Scottsdale mirror that dlewis has kindly set up. Here's what appear for 'options' in terms of download size at that site: Available Download Tests
