0lie Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 Hey guys, New to the forums and I love trying to tweak my internet to the best it can be. I play Halo PC and I live in Central USA with my ping (latency) always around 100-133 or even 167. I was wondering if there was a tweak out there especially for gamers for there pings to lower. I bought the D-Link Gaming Lounge DGL-4300 and when I had it set up, I only saw a diffrance in my lead as in you have to aim ahead of them to kill them unless u have 0-33 ping which no one in halo has unless you host them. I Have Qwest DSL with the plan that is the fastest out for Qwest. I would REALLY apreciate it if anyone could help me out! I also have tried tweaking it with Cablenut which slightly shows an increase. ::::::::::.. testmy.net test results ..:::::::::: Download Connection is:: 701 Kbps about 0.7 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 86 kB/s Upload Connection is:: 611 Kbps about 0.6 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Upload Speed is:: 75 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net (Server 1) Test Time:: 2007/03/14 - 5:58pm D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-835VWGYOH U-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-1WADML0PB User Agent:: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2 <a href="http://www.nerdtests.com/ft_loser.php?im"> <img src="http://www.nerdtests.com/images/ft/lsr.php?val=1704" alt="I am 71% loser. moonlightofdeath Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 There is probably nothing you can do with the internet latency except getting a plan with a faster upload. Personally, everytime I host a game in Halo, my ping is 0 and everyone else ranges from 60-170 which is average and i still have to shoot ahead of the person so I don't think it makes a difference. Guest kamil234 Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 your ping is 0 because you cant ping yourself lol.
moonlightofdeath Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 I know I can't ping myself . The thing is that even if he had a ping of 0, he would still have to shoot ahead as I always have to. The only way to reduce the *lag* would be to get a plan with faster upload rate. Guest kamil234 Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 meh. im usually around 100 ping in all my games and i still pwn people. lag = no excuse!
moonlightofdeath Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 I ping at around 33-133 and I don't lag. Feels the same as when I host a game and I own . Lag is only excuse when your ping is over 300 ^_~
Guest kamil234 Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 its funny on socom when you lag so much you look like your running in place and people shoot at you than you appear behind them and kill them
moonlightofdeath Posted March 15, 2007 CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 Ah, I used to hate it when that would happen. Makes the game really unfair. However, what is really funny is when I person lags to badly they can't move, headshot them, then when they unlag, they run in a random direction and just randomly die. . Lag kills. 0lie Posted March 15, 2007 Author CID Share Posted March 15, 2007 Well, >>>>>>BUMP<<<<< for people who can help make pnig go lower or stay more constant instead of jumping around.... btw I don't lag... I was only wondering if my ping could improove in ANY possible way othere then getting a better host which down here there is no better host at a better speed. saygoodie Posted March 16, 2007 CID Share Posted March 16, 2007 The speed of light has a limit, and unless everyone had a straight through connection (one house straight to another) there will be latency. But, It can always get a little lower.
moonlightofdeath Posted March 16, 2007 CID Share Posted March 16, 2007 Yes, it always can get lower, but in order for that, most of the time you need a quicker upload. Quick question, are you on a Wireless router, because if you are, see what happens if you have a straight connection to the internet. Quick question, are you on a Wireless router, because if you are, see what happens if you have a straight connection to the internet. Accually I have both available for my desktop. I am running on Cat5 which to my extent I think is the fastest out there for a line for DSL. I also can have wireless on at the same time but currently I have wireless disabled on my gaming lounge 4300 Router.
