resopalrabotnick Posted August 5, 2007 CID Share Posted August 5, 2007 looks like the cooked psu released the magic blue smoke that makes it work right and that affected the 12 volt rail. a bit. or are the new design tolerances +-25%? in which case it would be just a bit out of spec. i hope you didn't hurt the rest of the system with that. Roco Posted August 5, 2007 CID Share Posted August 5, 2007 "magic blue smoke" ? has the pope died , ?, at 16.97v you could read a book in the dark by the power of the panel lights , If that was my box I would run power fan quick , it shows the system volts as well as Temperature ,and has worked well on all the boxes that I have tried it on ,apart from some old Dell laptops ,
resopalrabotnick Posted August 5, 2007 CID Share Posted August 5, 2007 every electronic component contains a little magic blue smoke. when they die they sometimes release it. when they do it is a sure indicator that they will no longer work since the magic blue smoke is a requirement for them to function. hence, no smoke, no function. granpa Posted August 5, 2007 CID Share Posted August 5, 2007 Well I remember my nerve endings were charged and I released some of that magic blue smoke once.......or maybe twice........can't remember but I do know everyone cleared out and the funny thing is that I'm still functioning, at least I think I am.
