FallowEarth Posted September 27, 2007 CID Share Posted September 27, 2007 Jeff, Your traceroute isn't great.. but your ISP isn't going to take you seriously until you bypass your router. Especially since the very first hop shows 22 ms, the tendency is to blame your home network. If you connect directly to your modem (via ethernet) and you still show the same latency in your traceroute as in the 3rd hop shown above, which is in your ISPs network, you may be able to convince them that they need to improve their infrastructure. Ask them to open up a ticket with the network administrators.... you need to get to the ppl who can make the necessary changes (although you will probably find that you will not be able to speak with them directly). Sometimes it's easy, sometimes not. I would always recommend that you remain always calm (despite how many transfers you may have been put through), but tell them that you will call back every day until you find your resolution. Give it about 24 hours before you call again (give the engineers a chance to respond), but if you don't find a difference, and if you aren't promised a follow-up time, call again. Sometimes it takes a bit of persistence. Good luck!
dn0 Posted September 28, 2007 CID Share Posted September 28, 2007 Hey Jeff, glad to see your back, get yourself healed up. And I agree with FallowEarth, need to bypass that router, it should be an almost unmeasurable ping for hop 1, say <1ms.

keetan Posted January 9, 2008 CID Share Posted January 9, 2008 Do not use your MTA. (SB5220). The CMTS sees that, and uploads a different configuration file. Thats the first step.
keetan Posted February 10, 2008 CID Share Posted February 10, 2008 To further explain, your results you have posted in your original post - ::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 4696 Kbps about 4.7 Mbps (tested with 5983 kB) Download Speed is:: 573 kB/s Your modem's config file will probably read "no_data". The value for downloads are different. Yes, you may be able to connect to the internet, but that data is used for voice only. You can find the specs and values when/if you are able to telnet to your modem. Your MTA is not yet supported for HSI connectivity. There are multiple mac addresses on your mta - one of them is your CMAC (cable mac). It is not registered in their system. I believe this thread is closed/fixed due to the lack of replies?
